still thinking hard about this character growth. about the fact that Bryce showered my girl in so much love and admiration that she started believing in herself. despite all she's been through, despite people in her life telling her she wasn't enough. he told her she was more than enough until she had enough confidence to tell Esme that yes, she's good at her job, she's amazing at it. and because she knows from experience how important is is to know your own worth, she gives Esme the same advice she got from Bryce the year before. the same advice that changed her and made her a better person and a better doctor. this is so meaningful to me, the book 1 replay gave me so many feelings.

"Yo, Vic! How’s this?” *voice drops seductively* “Wanna play 'Doctor', Doctor?" "Smooth, B. What else you got?" "Should I take your temperature? 'Cause you’re looking hot today." "...That's just terrible. Keep 'em coming."

“Mmmh, smells delicious in here.”

Bryce feels the corner of his lips turn upwards as she sneaks her arms around him, standing on her tiptoes to kiss his cheek. “You do realize it’s just boiling water, right?” he chuckles, and he tries to sound teasing even though he feels nothing short of blissful.

Victoria smiles, chest pressing harder against his back while she nuzzles his neck. “Actually I was talking about you...” 

He snorts and the ladle he’s holding drops back into the pot with a small splash as he turns to give her a proper kiss, hoisting her up with her legs wrapped around his waist and her hands buried in his hair.

She hums contentedly, smiling into the kiss, and when they finally separate to catch their breath she rests her chin on his shoulder. A few rebel strands of Bryce's sunkissed hair tickles her nose. There's something familiar about the sweet scent of them. Cherry.

“B?”

“What?”

Victoria moves just enough for him to see her mock scowl. “You stole my new conditioner, didn’t you?”

Oh, the way his whole face always lights up when he smiles- She would love to hate him for it, for the way the corners of his dark eyes crinkle in the most adorable way, for the fact that he's her own, terrestrial sun. He dazzles and warms her.

“I think you mean our conditioner, Torres!” Bryce bats his lashes, pouting just enough to complete his best puppy impression.

“I will haunt your dreams, Lahela,” she replies with narrowed eyes, just a second away from betraying herself and bursting into laughter (or pressing her mouth to his once again).

At that Bryce's smirk softens into something else, and he places a gentle kiss against the lines of her frown. "You already do, ma’am. Hope you never stop.”
