Blinding Light, Switchfoot
restless is a really perfect downbeat to afterlife, the original, and war inside. all three of the songs preceding restless are about taking control of your own life, wrestling with what you’ve been taught verses what you actually want, and figuring out your identity for yourself, but underneath that, driving those decisions, is a feeling of restlessness, of knowing you want to run for something, strive for something, but you don’t know what, so you’re looking for it. it’s about running, for something and to something, running because you can, running to reach what you want from your life.
Your god came up with this idea.
If there was ever a day to miss this guitar, it’d be today (it’s actually everyday). And I just noticed the little logo on the head lol
Substance, oh, substance, where have you been? You've been replaced by the masters of spin Who make good looking books and write history in We're selling the news
The lines start to blur; I get so confused They get shiny new models mixed up with the blues They get binary code mixed up with abuse The facts are simply one option to choose
When nothing is sacred, there's nothing to lose When nothing is sacred, all is consumed We're still on the air, it must be the truth We're selling the news
There are no proper words to describe how much I loved Switchfoot’s concert. Even though I’m not religious, I can still enjoy and live all the moment of a Christian band’s gig, it even felt spiritual by the end. Their kindness, energy, their love for the crowd, the happiness they shared, these all made this last night so special. I met the guys after, they are all so humble and kind and Jon Foreman, the singer, well, although he decided to do a quick aftershow, he took a little time to do a quick interview with me before running out to the shore of Danube and play a little acoustic set for like 50 people. Above I caught a little part of this little acoustic session as Jon played a favourite song of mine called “Vice Verses”. I couldn’t stand still, I moved all night long with the flow, with the rhythms, why would I have stopped then...
I’m picking up the pieces // I’m trying out adhesives // I’m trying to fix a place that feels broken
Love this song so much by Switchfoot. Especially in today’s political climate, I feel like this song is needed more so than ever. This version, the acoustic one with only Jon Foreman, has such a powerful impact, and it showcases the words perfectly. We make the world how it is, so every day is a chance to change the world. Everything we do has an impact, and it is in a way our religion.
