losing my religion task one.
with the official acknowledgement of what’s being called the revelation killer, religion is on the tip of everyone’s tongue lately. attendance at the first church of mullen falls has sky rocketed, and even the nearby mosques and temples have recorded higher numbers of attendees in their weekly masses. but for some, proof of another killer in ‘the name of God’ has only shown why religion seems to be a farce - how can a God exist if things like this happen in his name? and those naysayers are just as loud as the believers, the two sides rekindling arguments that have long since quieted within mullen falls, at the very least. whatever side you lay on - belief, skepticism, something in between or nothing at all - it’s a topic close to most people’s lives, and offers a deep insight as to who a person truly is.
task one - losing my religion.
this is meant to be a developmental task for your muse, in order to flesh out their characterization and maybe develop a new aspect of their character that hasn’t been explored before.
while the focus of the conversation is primarily centered around christianity, there are thousands of religions in the world that your muse may claim. we highly encourage other types of religious affiliations for your muse outside of various denominations of christianity - especially for muses with different heritages who have stronger connections to specific religions.
as a developmental task, this is meant to be a writing prompt of sorts. you can write out a headcanon post, a self para of a certain point that they either connected or disconnected strongly with their religious affiliations, background information on their religious history, even a journal entry about a moment in their life that relates.
though this is meant to be a developmental task, feel free to be creative as well ! aesthetics, graphics, etc. depicting their version of religion is also welcome.
some prompts to consider:
what is their religion? is there a specific denomination of it that they connect to? ( for example, if they’re christian, do they see themselves as a presbyterian, or a lutheran, or a baptist? etc. )
how did they come to find religion? was it something they grew up with? was their family heavily involved in the organization?
have they struggled with their religious identity over the years?
have they ever faced harassment over their beliefs? have they had to stand their ground, or explain themselves and their belief system to people who refused to educate themselves?
has their religious identity changed over the years? for example, have they converted to another religion?
how important is religion to their every day life? do they attend regularly? do they celebrate important holidays relating to their religion? if they’re not christian, have they been sucked into celebrating holidays with ‘christian’ implications, like christmas?
have they have a moment that either solidified or broke their belief system? were they able to explain it to others?
are the people in their life supportive of their religious beliefs?
are they involved in their local place of worship? would those in charge know who they were by face, or name?
etc. !
this task is 100% optional, and merely meant to help develop some characterization for your muse. there is no specific end date for posting, but you can tag any posts / creations with #vicestsk for all of the group to see!
