he's awak
There are a few ways I've adapted bathtime for Victor in an effort to make the process less stressful for him (keeping the water level low but not so low that he's freezing, physically getting in the tub with him so it's not so much a thing being done to him as it is something we are doing together, using a super absorbent towel to reduce the amount of drying time, etc) but one thing I've been doing that has had an interesting effect is that I pretend to wash his face for him, and his reaction is always really priceless.
I of course know you should ever actually wash your cat's face the way you wash the rest of them, but what I've started to do is just, while my hand has a bit of clean water on it, just gently stroke the fur on his face until it's a little damp, to sorta simulate another cat grooming him with its tongue. And, well... the effect is overall positive. He definitely calms down when I do it and is more cooperative throughout the rest of the bath. But the thing is, it calms him down in probably the funniest way I can imagine.
Like, I can't be certain but I feel like it's a way for me to signal to him: this is my way of grooming you. I am not trying to torture or harass you, this is me doing something for your benefit because I love you. And I don't think it's entirely lost on him because of the way it calms him down and how he always kinda stops trying to escape the tub and gives in to let me do what I gotta do.
...But then he also keeps yelling at me and giving me sad looks as if he's asking me "when is this gonna be over already!?" So I can't help but imagine that from his perspective, he was so ready to be mad at me and complain loudly about the way I was tormenting little old he, but then I had to go and remind him that I'm just trying to do something nice for him and soothe his dry skin and clean his dirty fur, and now he can't be mad anymore. So now it's "sure, fine, give me a bath, I guess, it's whatever. But that doesn't mean I gotta like it!!"
Glad we are at least (hopefully) on the same page, little dude.
he took me to his castle then we freaked it.
Let’s read Moon Knight: Part 2
Moon Knight helpfully tells us exactly who was there, who hired him, and why.
I don't think Moon Knight and Sabretooth have ever actually run into one another on the page, which is a shame because it sounds like they were running in the same circles at the same time.
As an aside, so far 616 Moon Knight has appeared in roughly 450 comic books. About the same number as Sabretooth or Mystique.
So apparently, as originally written, Mark Spector was given his costume and the name of Moon Knight by a bunch of rich old guys who wanted him to hunt Werewolf by Night. Really interested to see how the fuck they ended up retconning that!
Moon Knight does not believe in werewolves. So that's funny.
I'm one of those people who likes to believe that the people in the Marvel Universe read DC comics.
Moon Knight sends his helicopter pilot "Frenchie" to abduct Jack's sister. I got nuthin'.
The comic ends with Moon Knight dragging Jack off to collect his bounty, and I can't help but be reminded of the ever-green meme:
(part one) (part three)
so anyways
THIS ALL STARTED BECAUSE I SAID I COULD SMELL SATANICKS BONER.
Let’s read Moon Knight: Part 1
Moon Knight first appears in Werewolf by Night #32 in August of 1975.
The comic just opens in medias res with Moon Knight completely beating the shit out of Jack the werewolf. Which is honestly kind of hilarious.
I love how old comics are a snapshot of what writers think the modern slang and culture of the time are. Just think, in a couple of decades the comics we're reading now will sound as hilariously dated as this one.
We are invested in the really specific types of kicks Moon Knight is doing. (Savate kicks). For some reason.
Over the next few pages we flash back to the lead-up to this encounter, which apparently started with the worlds most shitty ski trip accident, followed by hitchhiking, and a trip to the hospital. You know. Just 1970s things.
I'm not really that familiar with Werewolf by Night but I'm pleased by the apparently really positive relationship Jack has with his step-dad.
Oh my god the little girl is actually called Buttons.
Jack comes back to his step dad's house from the hospital, planning to stop there before going to hide from the moon. And bam. Moon Knight's there in the house waiting for him. Why? "To do my job and collect my bread."
