Join ArtHouses for two summer evenings on a street in Whitley Bay. The homes, gardens and public spaces of Victoria Avenue become the venue for contemporary visual art, hosted by the householders, and open to all.
ArtHouses brings video, live performance, installation, paintings, sculpture and drawings into people’s homes and offers artists a unique situation through which to explore the possibilities of working within the street. Through generating a conversation between artists and householders, who have helped select the works, ArtHouses creates the possibility of generating new encounters with artworks and opportunities to view contemporary arts practice in a unique situation outside of a gallery setting.
This year ArtHouses is presenting work by:
Totaller, Sneha Solanki, Neuschloss, Robert Laycock, Matthew Pickering, Matterlurgy, Luke McCreadie, John Quinn, Holly Argent, Graham Patterson & Sophie Foster, Gayle Meikle & Ross Hamilton Frew, David Foggo, Catrin Huber, Cathy Garner, Carol Lynn, Becky Woodhouse.
In its 8th year ArtHouses is an established part of Whitley Bay Film Festival calendar providing a valuable platform for visual artists to present their work within the architecture of the street and contributing to this vibrant event which is an important part of the developing character of Whitley Bay.
