the terror is a good book overall i think and i appreciate that the author does not try and sugarcoat victorian-era rascism and bigotry but actually faces it and acknowledges it. like the characters do act like horrible gross 19th century white men and this does fuck them over. (though sometimes it toes the line of 'does the author actually agree with this?' cuz of how overt it is, and it def could've gone way harder on the anti-colonial narrative aspects, instead of having them be in the far background)

but also why are they so horny constantly dude. they see like one woman dressed entirely in thick furs and its off to the races. its so funny. theres a bit where a man is turned on by like. the shape of a snowdrift. another bit where a dude gets horny listening to a monster playing the vocal chords of another human being like a pipe. is this accurate to men irl???

What if Jekyll and Hyde actually happened in the Good Omens universe

Because Aziraphales bookshop is in Soho, which wasn’t the greatest of places during the Victorian-era.

And Mr Hyde killed that politician in Soho, which was close to his apartment in Soho

What if like Crowley drove the discovery of the inner conscience fuelling Dr Jekyll’s idea to create the potion that created Mr Hyde

And Aziraphale knew Dr Jekyll through the discreet gentlemen’s club where he learned the Gavotee.

Because the speculation behind that club was for less than straight men or smth

And the way Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde presents Dr Jekylls sinful early adulthood and obviously that’s open to interpretation

Oh! Imagine a young Gabriel Utterson stumbling upon Aziraphales bookshop and finding extensive knowledge pushing Mr Utterson to pursue his lawyer career.

Idk this is just a brain fart kind of thing. But I seriously love The Curious Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde because it make the reader question a lot of things. It was also believed that it provoked the Whitechapel murders. And the way Good Omens presents through history of the world there, for sure, would be interesting to incoporate that kind of plot. Idk where I’m going with this
