Back in the day IRs used a sort of spin off phrase of the five lifetimes, one love phrase. I can't remember how it went exactly, but the idea was basically that their ship wasn't limited to 5 lifetimes, it was eternal. And it just goes to show how, as time went by, they ended up definning themselves by opposing anything that was IH as a result of their very own lack of romantic moments (or moments in general).
Yup. It’s like I said on the tags of this post, they were so willfully obtuse about Orihime’s confession and never seemed to understand that she was speaking metaphorically. She wanted to fall in love with Ichigo X amount of times, for every corresponding X amount of lives she lived. So if she lived five lives, she wanted to fall in love with Ichigo in all five. And if she lived ten lives, she wanted to fall in love with Ichigo in all ten. She wanted to fall in love with him in every lifetime she lived. It wasn’t limited to just five. It’s a metaphor lmao. And all the IH Kubo was writing was the only thing to keep them occupied (so they could write essays about how terrible it was lmao) while they waited around for their IR reunions, as a result of Ichigo and Rukia spending so much time apart in the manga after the AotS arc.
