I remember in ME1 I was at the last parts of the game and I somehow died and the last time I had saved was at Liara, and it took me back there. I quit playing ME1 for 3 weeks.

I accidentally ended my romance with Garrus AND I CRIED FOR FOUR DAYS until I remembered to load my old saves.
