wari’to lore update: he’s a whole vierqo’te now! just so i dont have to write different lore every time i think about him lol. anyway, more lore under the cut <3

raised in the depths of the twelveswood, he left his clan at 18 years of age to start earning a wage to support his family. after a frustrating couple of years dealing with gridanians, he changed tracks and left for ul’dah - where he made with the Colosseum. Seeing how his skills as a hunter weren’t all that useful for gladiatoral combat, he signed up for the Gladiators’ guild and learned everything to survive in the arena - how to do things and, most importantly, how to look good doing them.

he rose to fame quickly and efficiently, to the point that patrons were practically beating each other up for his favor. during his off-seasons, wari’to had gone and made himself a father, meaning more money wouldn’t hurt. he hooked up with a wealthy supporter and things were well(ish) for a while until they weren’t, as it tends to go with men who have lots of power and few scruples. so wari’to bet against himself, threw possibly the most important match of his career, and fled with the money.

he’s been out of the public eye until the events of the game thrust him into it again. part of the reason he joined the Scions was basically for protection in thanalan - from his ex-patron and otherwise. not that he couldn’t take care of himself, but frequent kidnapping/assassination attempts can wear a guy down, you know??
