WhatsApp Launches the View Once Feature!
WhatsApp has launched a new “View Once” feature. That is, users can view a media only once and then it will disappear. The recipient will be notified that the media sent by the sender- is “View Once” only. And the sender will be notified “Open” once it is opened. Here are a few points to note:
WhatsApp introduces View Once photos and videos that disappear
The key feature is geared toward media you might not wish to see hanging around forever. WhatsApp administration says View Once photos and videos are also encrypted.
WhatsApp wishes in on staying only a short time content. The Facebook-owned company on Tuesday announced View Once photos and videos, which vanish from a chat after they've been opened, "giving users even more grip and control over their privacy matters.
Like important personal messages, View Once media is guarded by end-to-end encryption, WhatsApp administration says. Photos and videos sent using this key feature will have a "one-time" icon to signify they'll fade away. Media won't be protected to the receiver's images or gallery, and users will unable to forward, save, star or share images or videos sent or received using View Once.
Public opinion about this feature is very impressive and have taken it positive through this feature they have more control and grip over their privacy and personal content.
Encrypted media could be backed up on WhatsApp's servers a few weeks after it's been sent, the company notes. And if a receiver reports View Once media, it'll be given to the company.
You'll be in a position to see if receivers opened photos or videos only if their read receivers are on. If media isn't seen within the spam of 14 days, it'll get expire. Sending a View Once image or video by user, will require to select the View Once option each time they do so.
Though this feature could provide a greater sense of protection and privacy for more- important sensitive content, WhatsApp administration looks you should send View Once photos or videos only to people you believe, since it's feasible for someone to get a screenshot or to screen record content. (You won't get a notification if they do.) It's also feasible for them to get an image or video of media with another device.
The feature is similar to Snapchat also, which also lets users send disappearing photos and videos, in addition to letting them post content for 24 hours. Instagram, another Facebook-owned company, also introduced similar kind of features on its social platform, a few years ago. View Once is rotating to all users starting this week.
The feature has already been rolled out for WhatsApp beta testers on Android. Reportedly, if the trial goes well, this feature will be released to the general public.
