To coincide with the 6th Dec, 2017 Australian release of 'American Made' on 4K Ultra HD, BluRay, Digital Ultraviolet & DVD, @viewinglounge & @hiddencharactersau organised for me to fly a stunt plane with Peter Townsend, the Chief Pilot of the Australian Aerobatic Academy. Thanks to everyone involved as I had an amazing experience!! #americanmadeau #viewinglounge ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Using a 1974 Pitts Special S-2A stunt biplane, a similar model to that flown in the movie, I not only piloted the plane through a 2G turn, but experienced loop-the-loops, rolls, flying upside-down & full-on stunt aerobatics. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 'American Made' [starring Tom Cruise] follows the story of Barry Seal, a TWA pilot, who is recruited by the CIA to provide reconnaissance on the growing communist threat in Central America - but Seal soon finds himself in charge of one of the biggest covert CIA operations in US history. The clandestine operation that was exposed as the Iran-Contra Affair scandal spawned the birth of the Medellin Cartel & almost brought down the Reagan Presidency. © ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The external photos of the plane were taken using the @HuaweiMobileAU Mate 10 Mobile Smartphone; for jobs such as this, I have now opted not to use my pro gear as I knew that the Leica-designed camera is more than capable of producing excellent results. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Using the 'Wide Aperture' setting & nothing else, the Mate 10's AI-assisted camera - with smart scene detection capabilities - recognised what I was shooting & fine-tuned the results accordingly.
