So lovely to meet Daisy today... some might say Mary Quant’s miniature muse and in part created by Australian artist and @swinburne graduate Joan Corlass (not to mention her rather striking resemblance to @trixiemattel). Final day visit to MARIMEKKO DESIGN ICON 1951-2018. I much preferred the work from the 60s & 70s on display. Sadly missing a wow factor (for me) and would’ve loved to have seen some local contextualisation (unless I missed it) and an exploration of some of the methods of production. The devil was in the detail as seen today in the exhibition (deep breath) - THE COSTUME DESIGNER: EDITH HEAD AND HOLLYWOOD. Sourced from private and studio collections, Edith Head created a continuous supply of designs for decades, taking home eight Academy Awards and no doubt countless other prizes.
