You know what is really fun idea is that you can put starting armor on other characters like Varric I'm giving cole your coat we seeing zombie chest now or put bull in cass' seeker armor and just him being wtf Or putting viv in solas' hobo clothes and her just getting pissed
I like the version of this where everyone’s clothing gets ten times better when Vivienne wears it.
Solas’ longjohns and vest combo becomes a leather catsuit with a heavy fur coat.
Blackwall’s old warden gear becomes smooth steel plate with white gold highlights in the shape of gryphon’s wings.
Sera’s punk rock Robin Hood outfit becomes classy, tailored fox-hunting garb for the discerning Marcher noblewoman.
No one can understand it. And Vivienne is just like, “I’m magic, darlings, don’t strain yourselves.”
How about You assign a tarot and persona to each companion
A fascinating idea, viewtifuls! I’d be happy to do this. (Sorry, I couldn’t tag you properly because your url wasn’t showing up with the tagging (@) feature for some reason.)
So…Each companion (and I’m going to throw in the Advisors as well), what tarot card I associate with them, and a Persona (or a manifestation of their inner selves in the form of a creature of mythological/historical being) I think that suits them (some of them are in fact Personas from the Persona Series, while others are just mythological figures that I think would work well in the scheme of that Arcana).
I’ll include a little explanation for my choices as well, so this might be pretty long-winded. (I’m still reading through World of Thedas Volume one so I didn’t base these off of Dragon Age Lore, sadly, but rather did the usual route of basing Personas off of real world mythos.)
Blackwall- Emperor Arcana. This Arcana is said to be representative of authority, parental figures, and having a solid foundation. Blackwall is an older member of the group, and I imagine he would be a very protective and self-sacrificing Individual. Also, he is a member of the Grey Wardens, which is a group that is generally respected and takes his role seriously.
Persona: Barong (Protects Mankind from Dark Magic – can take form of Lion, Dragon, Boar or Tiger.)
Cassandra Pentaghast – Chariot Arcana. The arcana of willpower, determination, and victory. Cassandra is a stubborn and determined woman, and will go to great lengths to uncover the truth, whatever it may be.
Josephine Montilyet- Priestess Arcana. The arcana of Intuition, and mysteries. Josephine probably has a very good Inuition about things, especially when it comes to puzzles like negotiations and such.
Persona: Kikuri-Hime (Dragon goddess of negotiation and meditation.)
Varric Tethras- Hanged Man Arcana. Actually, I’m kind of surprised this one fit, all things considered. It is a symbol of letting go and restriction. Varric had to let go and deal his the betrayal of his brother Bartrand, and still has to deal with Bianca. He however, has a pretty deep understanding of the world around him and makes very good use of it.
Persona : Barbatos (Brings understanding of the singing of birds, break open chests, knows things about the past and future, and can reconcile relationships.)
Cole – Moon Arcana. Associated with insecurity and the subconscious. Cole has learned he is a demon, but is trying to find his place in the world. The moon is also associated with illusions. He is a spirit, but appears to be human.
Persona: Sandalphon (In some accounts is the Guardian Angel who delivers Prayers to God.)
Dorian Pavus – Star Arcana. A symbol of hope and Inspiration. Dorian is a symbol of hope that his people can turn away from the darker parts of their society. He continues to try and work towards fixing his country despite how long it’s terrible history has carried.
Persona: Fairedone (Revolted against a Tyrranical King, emblem of Victory, Justice, and Generosity.)
Vivienne (Madame De Fer) – Magician Arcana. A symbol of skill and talent. Vivienne is skilled in both magic and wit, and is even described as “The Ambition.” She knows how to make a well-worded comback, and she knows how to deal with the inner workings of the Circle as well as the Orlesian Court.
Persona: Dis (Gives birth to Valkyries, able to preside over both farming and war. Responds to the wishes or ambitions of humans.)
Sera – Justice Arcana. Sera holds no like for the nobility, and would see that common folks get better treatment than they already do. She is a part of the friends of Red Jenny and sees a lot of things people often turn a blind eye to in Thedosian society.
Persona: Robin Hood. (Stole from the rich, gave to the poor. Free Spirit.)
Solas – Hermit Arcana. A symbol of soul-searching and solitude. Solas is more of a loner by nature and goes to great lengths to explore the fade. He is very knowledgeable about thw world of spirits, and his experience over the years has served him well.
Persona: Heimdallr (Possesses foreknowledge, watches for the end times, has keen senses.)
Iron Bull – Devil Arcana. Iron Bull revels in excess- fights, drinking, sex. But the devil Arcana can also be a symbol for commitment. Iron Bull has left his commitments to the Qunari behind, and has made a new one with the Inquisitor.
Persona: Dionysus (God of Seduction and Wine. Again here I changed it from the original Arcana.)
Leliana – Empress Arcana. Symbolizes beauty, nature, and abundance. Leliana is a wellspring of knowledge and stories, as well as someone who admires what is beautiful in the world. She sees different sides of people’s natures, and can offer a unique perspective when she is brought to the table. She can also be a strong leader who in the end cares for others and is loyal to those she trusts.
Persona: Jeanne (Joan of Arc) (Said to have spoken to God and made many victories for her people, but was betrayed and handed over to be burned.)
Cullen – Death Arcana. The death arcana represents deep change. Cullen has gone through a lot of change in his life. Initially, he was more sympathetic to mages but held a great regard to his position as a templar. After he was tortured, his views changed drastically to more anti-mage, though perhaps somewhere inside of him he still held some compassion. In the end, he changed once more when he started to see Meredith fall apart, and finally confronted her in the Gallows during the last battle. I have a feeling he will change even more in Inquisition.
Persona: Samael (Has been Interpreted to be both good and evil, as either the hand of God or the enemy of God. Has been suggested to be a guardian angel at times, while also being accused of being responsible for tempting mortals.)
BONUS:
Magdalene Lavellan (my ‘canon’ Inquisitor) - Lovers Arcana. Symbolizes Love, Unions, and Choices. Magdalene is a very loving and compassionate person, and makes many bonds with the people around her inside and outside the Inquisition. And, being the Inquisitor, her choices carry a lot of weight, and many weighty choices will fall to her.
Persona: Persephone (Queen of the Underworld, wife of Hades, ate Pomegranite seeds that established the change of Seasons.)
Warden reacting to the news of Ander's actions, or alistair reacting to the annulment of the circle
WORD COUNT: 769NOTES: You get both kind of, b/c my canon!Alistair remains a Grey Warden. B) This was an interesting prompt too, so thanks! Rly made me think!
Altho much apologies, I had NO idea where I was going with this and I don’t think I got enough of Alistair’s reaction in. I’m super bad with politicky plots, even as little as these ones. They need a lot of small details. ;_;
He senses it as soon as he walks through the great gates of Vigil’s Keep. There’s a certain reservation to the air, reinforced by the groups of threes and fours clustered about the place, heads pressed close, consternation writ across their features as they whisper behind open hands.
Alistair’s not sure what could’ve happened to have prompted such a change in the normally bustling fortress so in the few days he’s been gone - up to the city to chase after a rumour of Darkspawn - but they’re not looking at him, so he supposes it’s okay. It’s probably a particularly raunchy rumour going around. It’s happened before, and poor Lord Lee on the wrong side of it still hasn’t recovered from such a blow to his reputation.
Regardless, he can’t say the general atmosphere about the place doesn’t affect him, and he feels his lips twitching down into a frown because he really can’t think of anything that may have caused it. He’s out of the loop a lot, but that doesn’t mean he likes being there. The loop is just a thing that takes great pride in staying just out of his reach.
Luckily, there are always a few servants around who always have said loop firmly in hand. He grabs, gently, the next one to pass who doesn’t look as if there’s fire snapping at their heels, as some are wont to do.
"What’s happened?" He asks when the man’s wide eyes settle on him, "What’s making everybody act like someone’s gone and eaten the last cheese wheel?"
"You haven’t heard, messere? There’s been some trouble in Kirkwall."
"Kirkwall?" Alistair blinks, vaguely recalling that the place is up in the Free Marches somewhere. He’s not sure what could have happened to have such an effect here, though, in Ferelden. “What kind of trouble?”
"There’s been rumors, messere, that the Chantry there was destroyed. Blown up."
Alistair feels his eyes pop. His lips part but no sound comes out because - what does he even say to that?
"Some say it was Anders who did it." The servant adds. That gets his attention.
“Anders?" He exclaims, "Our Anders? Blond hair, yay high, always had his mind stuck in questionable places? Runaway Grey Warden? That Anders?”
"The very same." The servant confirms, looking a tad perturbed. He fights the urge to fall onto his arse. Anders went a blew up a Chantry. The idea is so unexpected that he can’t wrap his head around it.
The likely idea that there were probably people in that Chantry comes only as he’s halfway to the Warden-Commander’s quarters. Anders: jovial, lighthearted, murderer. It had taken everyone by surprise when he’d up and vanished, Justice with him. Murderer. Deserter.
There’s a sick feeling heavy in his gut and when he pushes open the door to the Warden-Commander’s quarters, he finds Ceren staring out the window. The atmosphere in the room is no exception to the atmosphere of the entire Keep.
She turns, sees his expression.
"You’ve heard?" He can only nod mutely, padding numbly to the chair in front of her desk and falling heavily into it, armour and all.
"Is it true?" He asks. Please say it isn’t.
"It’s true."
"Maker," He breathes, running a hand through his hair, wincing when the light strands get caught between the joints of his gauntlet. "Maker," He says again.
"What-?" He cuts himself off as his Warden-Commander speaks over him.
"Anders merged with Justice when he deserted seven years ago-"
“Merged? With Justice?” Alistair feels his lips twisting. “Why do I get the feeling that you’re not talking merged like in one of those romance novels Sigrun likes? Although - Okay, no, that kind of merge is ten times worse. Justice was in a dead body- Augh!”
Ceren gives him one of those looks and he clears his throat, folding his hands over his lap. Sometimes he forgets that, around her, he doesn’t need to resort to humor to lighten the mood. And that it’s not often appreciated.
"Right. Sorry. I’m very seriously listening."
"He blew up the Chantry to highlight the injustices of the Circle."
"I-" He exhales, hard and loud. "I don’t- disagree that mages are treated badly - horribly - but… Killing innocents?”
"He did what was necessary."
"What?" No no no no. Killing innocent people is never necessary. He stares at Ceren, stunned. "You don’t believe that." She shifts a little, unfolds her arms.
"… No. He could have made sure the Chantry was empty." The elf folds herself into the chair opposite him, sliding her hand along the dark wood of the desk. "He sparked a flame. Things are going to change."
Alistair isn’t sure if that’s a good thing. They’re both silent. He can’t help but be- glad. That they don’t have to involve themselves in this.
"There will be repercussions," Ceren says finally, and he nods.
"The Chantry won’t take this lightly." Ha. That’s an understatement if he’s ever heard one.
"Anders was still a Grey Warden."
"But… The Wardens don’t involve themselves in political affairs." He says slowly, cautiously, and Ceren meets his gaze with a sharp quirk to her lips.
it's kinda funny when i read a fan-fiction i always envisioned fiona as darker skinned it wasnt till i got deeper in the fandom till i saw people make her white
Fiona's description far more matches that of brown women I've met than white women.
She's really short and really thin with dark hair and eyes. Most of the people I've met in my life who fit that description were Indian, Guyanese, Middle Eastern or Latin@. I can't think of a white person I've ever met who fit that description.
Also I think it's use full that anyone can revive if you are close
Ooo I didn't hear about this. There's so much new info going around that I'm sure I've missed stuff. But being able to physically revive companions would help a lot.
that post is about fans of 1D getting shut up becuase they try to callout people who're islamaphbic towards that one guy zayne
What the fuck? (a friend of mine just sent me a link to the article)
The joke itself really isn't cool, it's really fucking rude and adds fuel to the existing racism towards Islamic (or Islamic LOOKING) people already
I honestly expect better from the Daily Show.
I'm not a fan of One Direction, but this joke is racist. And it upsets me that a black woman was the one to deliver such a racist joke with enthusiasm. That's a fucking shame.
