Origin story
Terribly desperate to find a torrent with English subs of the Pokemon Japanese short titled 'Pokemon Origins', I've found myself running back to something that I've been trying to run from since I thought of the idea: creating my own video game blog. I didn't want to make it while I didn't have my desktop setup and unfortunately my second screen isn't working making blogging even more difficult. I guess instead of strewing away from the point any longer I should get into the origin of VGN ironically as this is the first time that more than three people know about it.
It started as an idea when I started working in the summer of 2011 with a website called Controller Spike. It was born to be its own site after the Gamer's Garage podcast had twiddled around with other websites. I had already written for a handful of other websites and was growing tired of anxiously writing tedious gaming news and editorials. At one point when I was with the site, I was able to produce three original videos, five editorials and 20 news articles within five days time.
I know my content personally isn't the best on the 'net because I don't have a college degree of any kind and my English is substandard for a senior in high school due to the fact that I haven't pushed myself to become a better writer as I felt like it wasn't needed for this overwhelmingly poor field that I keep insanely striving for.
Fast forward to late 2012, I got a compliment from the critic of games media that blew my confidence out of the water. GJAIF, better known as @GameJournos, not only linked one of my editorials but said the following: "This man knows what he’s talking about." Take that as a 'box quote' if you will but that's exactly what he said. After then, I felt the need to create an idea that has been buzzing in my head for several years: Video Games Network.
I know, I'm the more original fucking moron ever. It has a secret meaning behind the intialism, not acronym (look it up if you don't know). What I want to do with VGN is create a true network: original reporting from several different viewpoints of the industry (religious convolutions on current affairs in games, developer to media interactions and obviously debates), create original content that isn't being made currently (not your bullshit let's play or podcast audio over gameplay) and inspiring future writers with guidance of skilled and experienced writers.
Eventually, I want to step down as a head figure and let the beast into the wild under the reins of a better person because I want to create original content that will excite and enthrall consumers of visual, oral and public media. Unfortunately as many bloggers know, the only way to get noticed is building up credibility. It'll be a long journey to get things where I want them to be.
I have faith that I'll be able to do it. Before anything gets going, I want to be able to mend any relationships that I've lost due to misconduct or miscommunication. I'm not a man to hide my failures. Part of the reason why I'm creating my own website is so that I don't fail anyone except myself at first. Many personal projects like Gaming Challenges and Gaming Update News have failed because I expect certain numbers to rise and I get fulfillment from success and depression from not.
Give me time to create sometime more permanent as I fix things and you'll be rewarded with interesting and original content.
