Harper had personal rules about helping pretty women into yoga poses, and most of them went along the lines of “It’s A Really Poor Idea.” But, it was his job and he couldn’t exactly sit there and allow someone to struggle because he was afraid they’d view him a little on the suggestive side – if they didn’t already. With a small sigh, he stood behind Seren and gently guided her hips up in the right direction. Harper wasn’t exactly blind to the harsh whispers that followed, most of which were twinged with jealousy for no apparent reason. He’d consider another career choice, but…well, being a wanted criminal limited your job choices. He’d survive. "That’s a lot easier on your back, isn’t it—" Gods, he hoped that didn’t sound as awful as he thought it did…
Once upon a time, yoga had seemed to be one of those ideas that couldn’t go wrong. She needed something to keep herself in shape, and since battling evil wasn’t her problem anymore (not that humans didn’t have enough of that, it was just that she had no interest in protecting them the same way she’d done with her clan), sports had to do. She’s always been quite flexible, a side-benefit of a life spent climbing trees and prancing through the woods, but it just so seemed that sometimes, it wasn’t enough. And this pose was something she failed to get into.
She’d expected Harper to ignore her whining – he usually did, until she’d finally find a way to get it right herself, but, after a few more failed struggles, he decided to help, after all. And she was thankful! Only that, even with how oblivious she was to most things that pertained to this world, she couldn’t miss the little whispers his help produced – like the hissing of vipers behind her. And she couldn’t help but smile, amused by just how much venom jealous shems could spit.
“It is. Thank you” She agreed, giving her instructor a little nod, and, despite her best efforts to be silent, she found herself adding (so lowly that she hoped he wouldn’t hear, although it was unlikely). “Now I just need to avoid dark alleys for a while, just to be safe.”
