Who is the woman on some of the OST covers? She's dressed like I-No, but her hair and hat are different, so who could it be?
Ishiwatari is known for drawing random cover-girls for his Soundtrack covers, so she has no name.
Still, the way you can tell it's not I-No is that she doesn't have a mole above her lip.
May the REAL I-No please stand up!
Even I-No’s Strive artwork features her famous mole!
However, this also rules out Viidia (sadly my theory about her being connected with I-No is undone... oh well).
I think Robbie is actually a minor character from Guilty Gear Begin. A friend of mine has been working on translating the novel. Apparently he's a polish (?) researcher that was loosely involved with the gear project and had some kind of familial (?) relationship with Vince. I'm not entirely sure on this (Also, Robbie might not be his direct name, you know how it is with accurately transcribing character names from japanese), but this seems to be the most likely case.
Mhhhh... must’ve missed that part. Yeah that’s pretty obscure. Thanks for picking up on it and correcting me.
I haven’t fully read through the Spanish translation yet, I just had a rough summary to go on.
SPOILERS TO THE GGBEGIN NOVEL AHEAD, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
What are your thoughts about Biidia and Sarge after the first half of Chapter 3? Could they actually be in alliance with the military invaders? Also, am I the only one creeped out by Dustin's desire to experiment on Sol/Frederick?
Regarding Viidia, she probably has (or at least had) her own objectives for being there, and seemed to have considerable experience in Medical and Wartime situations, but it’s still unclear the reasons why. She’s certainly unusually athletic, so she is physically trained, which adds to the mystery.
(As an aside, while I can’t prove it yet, she bears a very striking resemblance to I-No... and Axl Low once remarked that he saw a woman in old photographs with other researchers that resembled Viidia, though I don’t recall the exact story source that stated this.)
Regarding Sarge, I don’t believe he had untoward intentions, given the efforts he makes to bridge the gap of mistrust between Frederick and the other Researchers caught in the survival-crossfire of the situation. Frederick said he claims to have “seen him somewhere before” but hasn’t made any connections yet, so it’s possible Sarge is an actual legitimate researcher who had a stroke of bad luck. We’ll just have to wait and see.
As for Dustin... he’s probably the most suspicious character right now, not simply because of his odd interest in Frederick’s current state (i.e. Gear Cells), but also because of his connection with Gamma Sector and with Asuka R. Kreutz... he bore a security ID that gives him access to the Gear Project research materials itself... And while he claims he was only there as an “observer”, he might be someone with plenty of ulterior motives and connections for being there in the first place.
There’s still plenty of mysteries to solve here... and I am eager to find out more, but for now I have to translate the rest of Chapter 3 to find out!
Do you still believe that Viidia is I-no in disguise or that she could be a plant/spy working for the US government to extract information about the Gear Project and report her findings to her superiors currently in the labs?
At this point there’s still a lot we don’t know.
Viidia herself refuses to give her last name… so that’s one thing.
Another thing is the fact she seems to have field knowledge like how to wield an axe in a fight and give Emergency First-Aid. (Not that I’m saying an emergency axe is the same as a magical guitar here!)
But given that she appears to behave in a humane manner towards the other scientists around her… I’d suspect that things aren’t what they may seem at first glances.
We know that I-No was born from the Backyard and that her body was formed from the paradoxical wish Mankind made for a better future because of the Crusades… that much is absolutely true.
The connection may lie in something deep in the Human Psyche…
For example… perhaps I-No’s body took the form it did based on Viidia’s appearance and it was entirely a coincidence?
In much the same manner that the first Valentine was an identical copy of Aria, we could be seeing the genesis of I-No to a degree.
OF COURSE, THAT IS ALL SPECULATION.
Viidia herself has tanner skin than I-No, so that much can be determined, and Frederick already suspected she is from South Asia… so that’s another factor.
We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
What kind of personality does Viidia have?
Based on my initial impressions of her in the translation, she is good with computers, quick on the uptake (realizing her situation), has good survival instincts, but at the same time has a bit of a snarky mouth on her (she cracks jokes in otherwise bad situations).
Viidia also claims to not want anyone to know her last name for some reason.
Frederick says that she appears to be of South-Asian descent, but might have family issues hence why she only wants to be known as “Viidia”.
That’s it so far. I’ll continue working on Chapter 2 and reveal more as I progress.
Any guess as to who the shadowed man that Viidia was walking next to was?
Nothing concrete yet, BUT (again possible spoilers)
