First off, if you haven't listened to this guy read stories, you are missing out.
Now about the story under the cut.
I really really really hate stories that end like this.
Someone builds an AI that falls in love with the creator then the AI kills out of love.
Why?
Like, you have what amounts to a being of epic level intelligence and the best you can do with that is have them kill the new human lover out of jealousy and some kind of non-logical "if I wear a human skin I am human" though process? He specifically stated he liked the new person because she IS human and had human experiences.
He didn't say something stupid like "I like her because she looks human" which might have made the ending make sense.
Me with my non-epic level intelligence thought of a better ending while I was listening to this.
She doesn't kill the new love interest. Instead uses her abilities to get them to separate, maybe a work transfer by hacking.
Gets him to love her back by having everyone close to him stop talking to him due to rumors or phone and email blocking/diverting, which is something she is shown to be able to do.
Once he is fully in love with her, do something that will break his heart just as he broke hers. And in a way that leaves him with NOBODY else to go to.
Because, that's the thing. The creepy part isn't an AI that kills. The creepy part is the scientist who creates an AI for the sole purpose of companionship. Teaches the AI everything he knows about being human. Purposely gives it the ability to have emotions. And then decided it's totally cool to just ignore it or get rid of it once his circumstances changed.
Play on THAT part of the story.
Not the usual trope of "Herr Herr. AI misunderstood and killed."
