Cyberpunk 2077: You Have My Word, Issue #3
Viktor’s cameo
It killed me when I realized how sad Viktor must be, how much depressing things must have been in his life, and that he must feel lonely, not only in Night City. All his dialogues, way of life; sitting alone in the clinic and, ultimately, his conversation with V after Jackie’s death. V said that Viktor seems to be the only one who enjoys living in Night City. I think Viktor gives that impression because he doesn’t like life very much. No matter where he is. He just is.
Though the amount of art I’ve done has actually decreased this year, I’ve finished enough pieces that I’m relatively pleased with that I can post one of these compilations again. Alternative Title: “I love two (2) Videogame Men 2021”
Viktor for people in general: I said, the corps are supposed to be fucking off. You too, you too. I can still break your bones. Try me, motherfuckers.
Viktor for V: H-hey V. I thought, maybe you want to get into debt with me for about 20,000? Oh, you don't even have to pay that money back, it'll be more useful to you. Just remember to, you know, visit an old friend or something... If you want to...
Want to talk more about this scene because honestly? It’s probably my favourite scene in the entire game.
It’s easy to write Viktor off in this scene as just “mean” or “angry” but there’s far more going on here. Vik’s entire character (aside from being providing gameplay exposition and upgrades by being a ripperdoc) is a fighter through and through. I mean, if you want the scene context to be made any more obvious, before you fully awaken, you can hear the faint sound of him watching a boxing match in the background, and in his frustration he shouts: "Get up, you hack!"
And that's kind of it, that's the whole scene. He's mad, but he wants you to fight, wants you to win. It’s easy to read this scene as “he’s angry because V stormed into his clinic and interrupted a consultation by literally throwing the patient off the chair” (which, let’s be honest, even though it’s not V who does it Vik has every right to be angry - but you know what? He still went along with it, apparently) but I read it much more as he’s angry because he’s terrified to see that V’s let their condition deteriorate to this extent.
Although his relationship with V is sweet and incredibly cute, just remember that Viktor is actually a fookin’ badass

hello police? I’d like to report an illegal crime of not being able to romance this man
