I think Viktor Bartholy is a great example of an antagonist. He is cruel, he has personal ambitions, and he stands by what he believes in. Unlike other villains he is not swayed by empathy. He would not pity anyone, he is cruel, and he gets what he wants. Most villains have a reason to why they do the things they do, most of them would be for vengance or their anger to the world. But Viktor on the other hand, his only reason for doing the things he does is power. He runs on pure selfishness, arrogance, and narcism which is qualities that would make a villain formidable.
He has done a lot of despicable things, yet he still remains alive, albeit imprisoned or inactive.
(SPOILERS FOR S3 DROGO 2ND ENDING)
I believe that turning into a human is the BEST punishment for him. I believe that Viktor's immortality feeds into is ego. The fact that he is now human, the thought of growing weaker and to rot into the Earth and to die, would eat him alive and he would suffer at the thought.

Despite my praises for him, many would think that I like him or want to be with him. NO. I would not touch him with a 10 foot pole. I think he is despicable and I would NEVER think of him as a romantic interest or being his friend.
