day 30 – your favorite song at this time last year

I can't remember what I was doing this time last year, but I have it on good authority that I was listening to excessive amount of Electroclub, namely You Marry Him (Do Not Go) (or something like that). If you prefer to use the correct spelling: Электроклуб - Ты замуж за него не выходи Песня года.

I can't exactly recall how I discovered Electroclub, but I'm fairly certain it had something to do with another 80s Russian synthpop act I love, Forum. Forum's first singer, Viktor Saltykov shared singing duties with Irina Allegrova in Electroclub and I seem to recall I spent a large amount of time, searching for really great pop (see especially Темная Лошадка WOW).

Since last year, I've made a couple of Soviet synthpop tapes for the car and listened to them excessively, even anticipating little words like TIBYAH (to you) in the lyrics. I want to throw myself back into it again, listen and get swept up in the other worldliness of it while walking through Soviet backwaters on Google Street View.
