Scarlett groaned softly as she heard the bells ring at their usual time. Scarlett turned over and pulled the pillow over her head. She didn't want to get up yet, but her stepmother and stepbrothers would be up soon, demanding orders and other things.
Scarlett's mother died when she was young so her father remarried, a woman called Lilia with her two sons, JJ and Chris. When Scarlett's father passed away soon after, her stepmother immediately started treating Scarlett like a slave and made her sleep in the attic. Scarlett's only friends were some mice and some birds. Scarlett remained kind and caring, but had a bit of a snarky and sarcastic attitude.
The bells rang again, making Scarlett groan. "Alright, I'm up." She yawned and sat up, stretching her stiff limbs. "Another day begins.."
