i love shay as much as the next person. having said that, this site is full of hypocrites: defending and excusing (lgbt/woc) women's problematic behaviour and never giving men the same treatment and understanding, even if they are gay/lgbtq moc.
let’s assume both tyler and shay are gay and are in love with marlon and megan respectively. you call tyler a dick for being rude to megan but you are excusing shay’s extremely problematic behaviour. she intentionally spread something that was said to her in confidence by submitting it to instagram account the whole school follows; which led to marlon and megan breaking up; which followed with megan being harassed in school by people calling her a slut and throwing drinks in her face; which messed up her mental health. instead of telling megan straight away what she had done, she comforted her and watched/let her falling into depression.
and you are saying “how is my baby doing”, “awww she’s so in love”, “being in love with a straight girl sucks”, “it’s hard being in the closet”... her actions literally led to megan’s mental breakdown.
can we be objective for once? it is okay to love problematic characters, nobody is perfect, but can we at least admit it and call it out?
