Yeah it's so weird seeing a sanitized version of your city on tv (I'm not from France but y'know. Chicago). However. They do seem to have an abundance of climate related protests because the mayor wants to *checks notes* send garbage into space and *double checks* chop down trees and replace them with an oxygen tower.
And then sometimes the show will just throw out these motherfuckers in riot gear! Talk about tonal whiplash! They can show cops blasting akumatized villains with thousands of dollars worth of ammunition (why do they still bother??) but not tear gassing Marinette's classmates because that would be bad for all the kids watching at home. Oh except for this ep where her mom gets profiled and arrested:
Not that I'd ever expect or want Thomas Astruc to try and feature the realities of Parisian life in Miraculous Ladybug considering his other questionable writing choices and the way he handles sensitive subject matter but that's another thought entirely.
