While walking in the daylight wasn’t exactly advisable for a vampire, Giovanna had a hard time staying in when there was a new town to explore. She did need new furniture and decor for the home she’d purchased. And sadly, as the town was so small and mostly full of those who enjoyed sunlight, that mean staying up later than she normally would, and traveling out into the morning.

She was covered as much as she could be, a large-brimmed sunhat, a floral skirt with splashes of green and orange that was just long enough to brush the dirt off the sidewalk behind her, a loose white blouse, and black lace gloves. It was a beautiful outfit that managed to cover nearly every inch of skin.

She wandered around the market, glancing into windows and over the contents of stalls, pausing occasionally to barter with the vendors. She was so glad Nightmare allowed bartering, she certainly missed it.

She stopped in front of a stand covered in vegetables, her eyes landing on a rather gorgeous bouquet of roses. “Ah, theses are lovely.”

Theo’s entire morning was spent trying to find the perfect outfit. Her entire closet had been strewn about her room and curse words flew about-- there just wasn’t anything working that was acceptable to her. She debated between cute dresses, tight skirts, jeans, and nothing seemed to satisfy her. 

Eventually the clock ticked closer to noon, signaling that she had to be at the restaurant soon. She settled on a more casual outfit, but tied it up with her favorite pair of heels. She felt as if she hadn’t been able to wear them at all lately. 

She touched up her makeup and ran out the door with fifteen minutes to spare, her heart racing as she thought about the day. She’d hoped she didn’t come on too strong with him, seeing as this was something she was never used to. Honestly, she’d never put so much thought into a date; they were always to get something she wanted, like money, jewelry, clothes. But this time, she wanted to really get to know Jackson. He seemed so charming, and really unlike anyone else in this town. Everyone here seemed to have some sort of agenda. She didn’t like that; she enjoyed living her life without any sort of certain goals, and Jackson seemed like he was enjoying his life in the same way. Or so she hoped. 

It didn’t take long for her to arrive at the restaurant or get a table. Now she waited for him to show up. A small fear that he wouldn’t be there passed through her thoughts, and tiny bout of anxiety bubbled in her stomach. That wasn’t like her. It was a curious sensation, but she worked through it. She mindlessly flipped through the menu, but the only thing running through her mind was what they could talk about. She kept telling herself that it would be fine, and would flow naturally, but she just wanted the day to be amazing. It was a date, after all.

He didn’t quite know why he was out tonight. Nothing interesting, like the full moon, was going on. But he found himself unable to stay within his home this night. Instead, he wandered the streets of Nightmare, checking on his precious town and doing whatever needed to be done around. It was busy work, and something below him, but it was something he did now and then when he found himself restless.

He’d reached a part of town he knew better than most. Away from the chaos, bar and diner. It put him closer to the forest, and the mountains. It took him away from the racing sounds of blood being pumped through living veins. Of course, not everyone was busy in the center of town, and he soon found himself approaching another.

Jackson was someone he was almost happy to see. Almost. The Necromancer was one that he’d found interesting from his arrival in Nightmare. Unique would be the easiest way to describe him, but it wouldn’t do the man justice. There was just something about the young one that had Vlad’s skin crawling. Necromancers could be dangerous to most vampires-- not Vlad, but others. Jackson, however, might have potential against Vlad is he wasn’t so damned skittish. 

“Jackson,” his voice touched the darkness and spread around like a spilled drink. He let a smile form as he stopped. “What brings you out this fine night?”
