Honestly Villainess Level 99 had the most darkly hilarious take of adding reality onto a videogame setting
All the mechanics...but no continues.
Paraphrasing
Main character: “and that’s how I exploited enemy spawning patterns and enemy-summoning item in the forest dungeon near my house to level grind to 99 before reaching puberty!”
Royal Captain: “...You didn’t equip any protection charms?”
Main character: “No, I needed the equipment slots for the exp boosting charms”
Royal court: *considering starting a Child Protection Services from seeing the sheer neglect that allowed a young girl to go dungeon delving*
Main character: *thinking* “Wow, they’re all speechless. No one really ever came up with this before me?”
Its...amazing how much an overpowered protagonist I would find boring works with how socially stunted she is and , and the new not-crappy adults now in her life aren’t simply trying to exploit her like they would in other stories, they have clear mixed feelings at this walking potential living superweapon and feel parental instincts welling inside yet also seeing her as an incredible asset for the kingdom.
The queen broke down sobbing, and the protagonist thought the joke she told was funnier than she thought.
Not making everyone mustache twirling evil in a way made it so much darker than a grimdark take would have been...
