We met up with a local resident of The Villas named Gary Forbus. Gary has lived in Dallas since 1978. He has been retired for four years from a career in the aerospace industry and is enjoying the time off. With the idea to downsize from their Lakewood home, he and his wife Nell began exploring their options regarding where they were going to move. Something got their attention though. It was The Villa Views.
Gary’s front door is strategically facing Downtown Dallas. His modern home has enchanting linear designs, large windows with great views and beautiful bookcases full of history books. He and his wife Nell enjoy having community barbecues with their neighbors, especially when the summer holidays come around. He enjoys walking down to Smoke Restaurant to get breakfast on occasion. Gary is also hopeful about the development trend that is happening in the Fort Worth Avenue Development District.
We began talking about the historical city planning of New York City and how their grid street systems were designed over 200 years ago. Grid systems that you find in older cities are the lifeblood of development. The Fort Worth Avenue area is becoming more walkable and dense as the street grid is magnified with repurposed buildings and new construction. The car is king in Texas, but there is something special about living in a community where you can either hop on a bike or take a leisurely stroll to the local grocery store or coffee shop.
