Il vilucchio forma radici straordinariamente abbondanti e lungue (raggiungono i 2 m di profondità), dove immagazzina le sostanze nutritive, che sono sufficienti perfino ad un nuovo germoglio. Fiori generalmente solitari. Foglie alterne, picciolate, lanceolate o saettiforme alla base. Giugno-ottobre, 30-100 cm. HD: Campi, giardini, sentieri, macerie. Segnala presenza di azoto.
