Headcanon #52 - First Night in Skyrim
It was Hlenil's idea to move to Skyrim. At the end of the Great War, he reasoned that with the loss of the Empire there was more of a profit to be made, not to mention the increasing number of raids from Tel Silgrad on his den, and when Vilveriah argued against it he only became more convinced. In his opinion, a bit of conflict in her life would do her good. Ri'Bash was prepared to do whatever he was told and Felen was too far gone to care, as long as his alchemy equipment was within sight at all times.
They spent their first night after crossing the border in Refugees' Rest. Vilveriah was happy enough, having cleaned out the trolls and started experimenting on their remains, but Hlenil went silent once the flags on the tower came into sight and didn't say another word that evening. She assumed it was either because he was cold, despite having Ri'Bash cuddled protectively around him, or because staying in the land of the Nords opposed everything he'd been taught as a young Dunmer, and never troubled herself with asking why she heard him snuffling in the night or why they found him wandering around the unmarked graveyard the next morning.
After they left he went back to complaining about the snow and his tired feet, and Vilveriah forgot all about it.
