YES SORRY
so basically, vincent was summoned by a busy couple with two young children to be a nanny, which he quickly realized he loved and heavily resisted his brothers' (he has 25 brothers and he specifically represents the bargaining stage of grief, it's a long story) attempts to get him to come back to his home realm. then the parents of the kids both die--one because of a freak accident at work, and the other because in this world, summoning demons kills you. and he didn't know that. (neither did vincent, tbf. it gave him lasting issues around grief). RIP grayson starr you would have loved dead boy detectives. (that's also why vincent's last name is starr. everyone felt like he should take it after they both died).
ANYWAY, now vincent is the only caretaker of these two kids, and he takes it in stride. he is the dad who stepped up. with the help of his retired neighbors (who are queer married plant nerds with no kids and a cat named belinda), he figures out 1) how to be a parent and 2) how to be a person.
through a series of unfortunate events he ends up having to take in several more kids over the next 15 ish years, so he becomes Your Friendly Neighborhood Dad. whether it be due to parents leaving the picture, fleeing abuse, close friendships with original kids, WHATEVER, the starr household is the place to be.
fast forward to when the first kids (who were 2 years and 6 months respectively when the story started) are 18 and 16, that's when he meets quinn and flips his life upside down and falls in love. cue meddling kids and matchmaking hijinks.
who r yours ocs?
ohhhhh don’t get me started there’s so much to explain. short version:
quinn is one of my ocs, in fact he isn’t even a main character, but he rotates in my brain constantly. he was a doctor who cured my fantasy world’s equivalent of cancer and was made immortal by someone else (who was collecting “good people” to immortalize to “run the show” essentially) because of this. so he got roped into politics. he is five billion years old.
he was made as 1) a representation of being kind even when you have every right to go apeshit and 2) please can I have ONE white man in power that deserves it. He’s my silly rabbit. he’s also *mean girls voice* too gay to function. the “saved by the narrative” post is him because he was going to drift aimlessly after the plot of the story, but then he gets introduced to a guy™️ (a demon) (named Vincent)(my fucking beloved) and reevaluates his entire life. and then marries him :)
