“Time travel isn’t as it’s portrayed in the movies.”
Well guess who has a ship with a time traveler/immortal AU. Also angst for you because that’s what you love.
“Time travel isn’t as it’s portrayed in the movies.”
Vincent could see Ezra trying to figure out what he meant and shook his head, “never mind, you’ll figure out what I mean eventually.” A perfect example of what he meant though, “like making references to things that don’t exist yet. Or aren’t big yet.” He wasn’t sure when time travel as a movie plot device got popular or when movies would get popular… Actually now that he thought about it…
Ezra stared at him blankly before flatly informing him, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Okay, well listen,” Vincent wasn’t sure how to explain but he’d try, “when I’m from time travel is seen as cool, exciting, its a big adventure, and…”
“I thought you kind of liked time traveling,” Ezra seemed to be picking his words carefully, “that you liked meeting new people.”
“Yeah but it’s hard, and it’s lonely and it’s awful,” Vincent rubbed at his temple, “the only cash I have is either outdated or would appear to be counterfeit ‘cause the dates are wrong, I’m never allowed to stay in one place for more than like a week before I’m suddenly dragged out and put somewhere else like the universe is trying to figure out where I’m actually supposed to be, and I get maybe a few days with friends before I’m sent years or decades away and for all I know they’re dead.”
Ezra set down the sewing he was working on before crossing the room.
“And I hate it, I hate getting kicked around the timeline and never knowing where I’m going to end up or when, and having to figure out where I am whenever I travel and I wish it would stop.”
“We’ll figure this out,” Ezra promised him, sitting down next to Vincent, he turned hopefully towards his friend, one of the few consistencies he had, “we’ll get you back in the timeline and then you’ll be okay.”
“You can’t promise that,” Vincent whispered, Ezra flinched at the truth, “I might be stuck like this.”
“You’ve done enough,” Vincent assured him, “just by being here for me, but please Ez, don’t make me a promise you can’t keep.”
