*Minor Spoilers* I actually read the summary wrong when I opened this and thought it was vignettes about specifically a borrowed jacket and that is not the case lol. But I'm glad to be wrong. This was a wonderful collection of vignettes, beautifully arranged. The author does list out the order you could read if you want it chronological, but I think it's best the way it's already laid out. We move back and forth through time, every backstory giving context to the present. The prose is sometimes frantic, a stream of conscience that makes it feel very intimate, but on my first read was a little hard for me to focus on. I needed to go to bed when I read this and was fighting it. That's not the fault of this story, but I enjoyed my second read through much more because I was in the right headspace for it. Just keep that in mind when you read this! Pay attention, you'll want to soak all this romance up.

00. Unexpected Things

        Some things happen unexpectedly. It's so unexpected, sometimes you don't know how you're supposed to react. Like when my sister got proposed to by her boyfriend of nine years. Or like when mommy came home and gave us all ice cream just because she felt like it. Like those good unexpected things. But not all unexpected things are good things.

Like when the person next to you on a bus saids they’re surprise that you could read such “complicated books”  and you don’t know what to do so you just sit in your seat and remember to breath. Or like opening those blue containers of cookies and finding only sewing stuff and buttons inside it. I hate those things. But not as much I hate when good unexpected things and bad unexpected things happen at the same time.

Like that time when Lani's little brother said something unexpectedly vulgar and we laughed and laughed at how’ funny he sounded. And we're still laughing when we hear a loud Whack!. We're all smiling as we ran outside and look over the front porch. We didn't know what we were expecting but when we saw the tiny body in the street smeared in blood, we didn't know what to. We all just froze.

It took us a minute before someone screamed.

It took us a minute before someone thought to call 911.

Jemma’s disgust that he doesn’t understand prehensile hair is the best thing about this, and I say that as a huge fan of bantering, comfortable FitzSimmons.

I mean, why does he need to know, really? Why does Jemma have to spend all her lab time explaining things he's probably not going to get anyway? WHY? 

There are a lot of ways to be scared about the stuff we read in the synopsis, but I like this version much better. :D Thank you!
