I just learned about the Amphibocycle and I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that someone thought it was a good idea to create a vehicle that was supposed to be used on both land and water but ended up being a death trap. Like who thought it was a good idea to put a paddle wheel on a bicycle and expect it to work on water? The Victorian era was full of crazy inventions but this one takes the cake. The fact that people actually tried to use it and ended up drowning or crashing is just terrifying.
