This was my grandfathers flag. It has only 48 stars on it. He immigrated here from the Philippines and met and married my grandmother who immigrated here from Sweden. My father was born in San Francisco and is first generation American. He was born in 1931 and was raised during the depression. He doesn’t throw away anything that could be used again or repurposed because he lived through a time where there were huge resource deficits.
