A 1961 #LesPaul Junior plugged directly into a 1970 #Marshall #Lead20. You can tell by the plethora of glowing orange pilot lights in this shot that I have been doing a mini shootout between a few of my favourite #ToneHenge™ #amps. Just to see how they all compare to each other. And the results? - 1965 #FenderPrinceton Reverb: still my overall favourite. Sounds much bigger than it is with very nice (not harsh) reverb. - 1970 #Marshall #Lead20: Such a great amp. My second favourite. Cool looking too. - 1965 Fender #Champ: A surprisingly great-sounding amp that I find myself playing all the time (even over the #Princeton Reverb!). Works great with fatter sounding pickups like P90s and humbuckers...sounds less “muddy” than other amps. Also overdrives at a relatively low volume which is perfect for my house/neighbours/noise situation. - 1962 Fender #Tremolux. Sounds huge, with a lot of low end, but balanced and with still a lot of definition throughout the frequency range. Could be due to the 2 x 10 as I always find 2 x 10s sound big but tight. Could also could be due to the vintage RCA 12AX7 that @marshalllespaulfan put in it for me! 😀 My only complaint about this amp is that it is too powerful for my house so I can’t turn it up properly. - 1966 Fender #SuperReverb (not mine...on loan from @tomgibson3783): one of the best sounding amps I have ever heard. So much low end it could be a bass amp. It’s perfect for beefing up those thinner sounding Fender single coil pickups. While the Princeton Reverb is my overall favourite, please don’t get me wrong: there are no “bad” amps in this photo, and if you just randomly picked one and said “mate, this is the one you’re stuck with for the rest of your life” I’d be ok with any of them. #Amp shot from my visit to @tgscan on the weekend. On the left is the amp I bought (1963 White Knob #Fender #Princeton) and in the center is the amp I REALLY wanted to buy (1969/1970 #Marshall #Lead20)! So freaking cool. So freaking expensive! One day maybe... #marshallmonday #marsallamps #amps #amplifiers #marshallamps #vintageamps #vintagemarshalls #vintagefenders #fenderamps #guitar #guitars #ampsofinstagram #guitarsofinstagram #geartalk #vintagegear #guitarphotography #ampphotography
Here's a better shot of that 100 watt behemoth 1972 #Marshall #JMP100 that unexpectedly showed up a #GuitarSummit III this week. It was less expensive than usual because it was a "floor" model. 😜 Cue rim shot: baaaaaa-dum. Thank you ladies and germs - you're a great audience! I'll just show myself out... 🤓 #marshallamps #amps #amplifiers #vintageamps #vintagemarshalls #guitaramp #guitar #guitars #gs3 #guitarphotography #ampphotography
