The murder of Viola Liuzzo by the klan + statues & remembrance
March 25, 1965: 39 year old Viola Liuzzo was shot and murdered by KKK members. One of the Klansmen in the car from which the shots were fired was a FBI informant. Viola Fauver Gregg Liuzzo was a Unitarian Universalist civil rights activist from Michigan. Liuzzo had been horrified by the images of the aborted march on March 7, 1965 at the Edmund Pettus Bridge which became known as "Bloody Sunday." 9 days later, she took part in a protest at Wayne State. She then called her husband to tell him she would be traveling to Selma, saying that the struggle "was everybody's fight." Liuzzo's name is one of those inscribed on a civil rights memorial in the state capital. #blackhidstory #selma #violaliuzzo #leroymoton #fbiinformant #kukluxklan #thingstheydontteachyou #freedomfighters #civilrightsacticists #civilrightsmovement https://www.instagram.com/p/BgvyV69HwtA/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=hh86wx3oqtjr
