something about this “how often do men think about the roman empire” stuff i keep seeing on tiktok that irks me is just how people keep trying to think of a girl version of this and everyone is saying the salem witch trials. and, it’s true, they got me. I personally think about the salem witch trials pretty much every day.
but just picture it for a second. picture how often these men are thinking about one of the most powerful, economically rich, innovative and successful times in western history for men (that like every other piloted off exploitation, slavery, etc but anyways) while women and others like me are thinking about a time in history where women were violently persecuted for no reason, wholly founded on the basis of oppression and discrimination.
doesn’t that fit perfectly? i and many others having to constantly bear the grief for those like us in history, while men get to live in ignorance and appreciation for the power they’ve had this whole time?? brb gonna go swim into the ocean.
