Story time
I became fascinated with Violet Beauregarde in the 1971 Willy Wonka movie when I was 5. I felt something in my stomach, something I'd never felt before. I even knew at 5 that my fascination was weird and I didn't say anything about it to anyone.
UNTIL...
I went to a private daycare and one day the babysitter played the 1971 movie. While the movie was playing a couple of the older girls arrived, they had just been at school. The Violet scene played soon after and one of the girls stood right in front of the TV and said,
"I wish that would happen to me!"
I was very surprised someone else felt the same. So I got my best friend at daycare and the older girl to talk privately. I had an idea - we could stuff the play clothes in our clothes to make us bigger. We went to one of the rooms in the house and shut the door. We were giggling as we stuffed our clothes.
And then...
The others kids got curious about what we were doing. I tried to keep the door closed by pushing up against it. I didn't want anyone to see. But I wasn't strong enough and I got pinned against the wall and the door. The other kids were being rowdy and I don't really remember what happened. I know I took the play clothes out of mine because I was embarrassed.
The older girl had kept herself stuffed and when her dad came to pick her up she walked down the hallway like there was nothing wrong with being "big." Her dad played along -"oh no what happened to you!" I was still in the other room so I only heard what was going on. I heard a lot of laughter and then the older girl left.
After that I didn't really tell anyone. There were a couple people that I may have said something to if they expressed they liked the movie, but otherwise it was a secret.
As I've talked to some lovely people on here, my experience isn't unique. We became fascinated at young ages and didn't share our thoughts about it. It's relieving and strange to know I'm not some weirdo freak. Well... maybe I am a weirdo freak, but it's not because I like the idea of blueberry inflation. 😅
This is so funny! This man has never seen Willy Wonka (1971) and I love his reactions.
