First Impressions / Open

Location: Gryffindor Girls' Dormitory

Time: Pre-party

Violet walked into the Girls' Dormitory and shrugged her robes off, making her way through crowd near the door. Gryffindor was hosting the all house, start of the new term bash tonight in the common room, and the Gryffindor lionesses were making sure they were dressed to the tens. The few months of summer were obviously enough for Hogwarts' upper year male population to make the jump from average to irresistible. Violet smiled as she listened to her friends giggling about the 7th year Slytherins. Oh yes, there was going a lot of gossip in the morning, that is if anyone woke up from their spiked pumpkin juice hangovers. Violet shook her head and rummaged in her wardrobe, looking for the custom turquoise dress she bought in Diagon Alley a few weeks ago. Despite her strained relationship with her family, particularly her mother, Violet would always value the Clarks' wealth. Whatever the family lacked in love, they made up for in money. "Aha, there it is!, " she murmured. She passed her hand over the soft material. The dress ended right above her ankles, and the left side had a slit up to mid thigh. The dress was a halter top with a modest neckline and gold detailing. Violet quickly slid out of her clothes and slipped into her dress, tying it snugly around her neck. She turned around and looked at the mirror, admiring the her open back. It didn't matter that she was ridiculously overdressed. Tonight was the perfect occasion for her to make an impression, and what better way to do it than in front of everyone, looking like a Veela? She winked at her reflection and turned around to face the group of girls who were looking her way, gaping. "So, " she began, "what should I do with my hair?".

Grand Duchy - Silver Boys

Indie duo Grand Duchy, which consists of Pixies frontman Frank Black and his wife Violet Clark, will release the follow-up to 2008's full-length Petits Fours on April 10th.
