Violet Miller & Bucky Barnes // Invisible
“Thank you for inviting me today, Bucky.”
“No problem,” Bucky shrugged his shoulders, snapping a picture of the lake in front of them. “I’m glad you came. Thought I was gonna have to drag you away from Grey’s Anatomy again.”
“You can’t blame me for that. Mark Sloan is the love of my life.”
Bucky risked a glance at her, smiling softly when he saw that she’d sat down on the grass, her legs stretched out in front of her and her eyes closed as she lifted her face towards the sun. He cleared his throat.
“Well then, fictional or not, Mark Sloan is a very lucky man.”
Violet snorted. “Shut up.”
“Never,” Bucky grinned. Violet turned to him briefly to roll her eyes, her cheeks flushing before she glanced back out over the water.
Bucky beamed.
He loved being the one to make her flustered, to pay her compliments, to make her cheeks turn that shade of pink as she shyly tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.
He lifted his camera again, taking a quick picture of her. Violet didn’t notice, and so he adjusted his stance slightly and took another one.
“It’s so beautiful out here.”
Bucky lowered his camera, but kept his gaze on her. “Breathtaking,” he murmured and Violet turned to face him, the smile slipping off her face when she saw the camera pointed at her.
“Bucky what are you doing?”
“Taking pictures of you.”
Violet clambered to her feet. “Why?!”
He smiled sweetly. “Because you’re pretty.”
“Delete them.”
“Nope!”
“Bucky, delete them,” Violet made a grab for his camera and Bucky laughed, easily dodging her and holding it out of her reach. “Please, Bucky!” she whined, reaching for the camera again and huffing when he held it further away.
He laughed when she huffed, her hands curled into fists and looking one step away from stomping her foot like a kid throwing a tantrum as she made another move to grab the camera out of his hands.
“I won’t put them in my portfolio if that’s what you’re worried about,” he hummed. “But you look so pretty and it deserves to be captured in film.”
“I hate you,” Violet sighed in exasperation, making Bucky laugh again. Her cheeks were still tinged with pink, avoiding his eyes with a pout on her lips that Bucky wanted desperately to kiss away.
So he did.
Ignoring her yelp of surprise as he tugged her towards him, Bucky gripped her waist with his free hand and gently pressed his lips against hers. He grinned against her mouth when he heard the gasp come from her, his left hand tightening it’s hold on her right hip, his fingers digging into her skin.
That was when Violet put her hands against his chest and pushed him away, her eyes wide and her mouth open in surprised, her fingers ghosting over her lips as she stared at him.
Bucky grinned bashfully.
“Why- why did you do that?” she whispered after a beat of silence.
“…Because I like you, Violet,” he answered simply. Violet frowned.
“Why?”
Bucky chuckled quietly, pulled her towards him again and kissing the tip of her nose before resting his forehead against hers and asking softly, “Why wouldn’t I?”
