11. 3 books that you would recommend everyone to read

This is such a tough question! Books! As in: all books, not just fiction … And only 3 … May I cheat? I want to cheat! Ok, I will cheat! So, here’s 3 books for fiction and 3 for non-fiction. The fiction recommendations will not be the classics, because, the fact that they are classics should be recommendation enough!

Fiction:

1. Terry Pratchett, Thud!

2. Ursula Le Guin, The dispossessed

3. Andrea Camilleri, any book from the Commissario Montalbano series

Non-fiction:

1. Noam Chomsky, Manufacturing consent: the political economy of the mass media

2. Cordelia Fine, Delusions of gender

3. Berry Bonnie, Beauty bias: discrimination and social power

30. 3 moments you could never forget

1. The day I submitted my thesis. So! Much! Stress! Got a nosebleed (because of high blood pressure) and everything!

2. Seeping cocktails on a balmy night with my best friend at an open-air bar overlooking the sea at Santorini (it was our first vacation as “grown-ups”).

3. First crush. Happened during class. Couldn’t concentrate. Was certain it was obvious to everyone (of course, it was not).

Hmmm … Another tough one! I am not a sentimental listener, in the sense that I don’t necessarily connect specific songs to specific personal moments. There are so many songs with interesting, thought-provoking lyrics. This answer is not really about those songs. :) Because, I usually don’t play those songs on repeat but in small doses.

1. Boney M., Rasputin / Claude François, Alexandrie Alexandra

(Played in every -and I mean every- party I’ve been to while studying abroad! By the way, that’s not a complaint!)

2. Chumbawamba, Tubthumbing (I get knocked down)

(I will never not sing along. It’s a banger. It’s instantly uplifting)

(Ok, this may be more thought provoking. Or not. The lyrics fascinated me as a child and it took a long time to learn its origin!)

This is harder than it seems, but I can try.

1. There are certain things that I not only can but actually do eat every single day (possibly with only very rare exceptions) and I’m not bored of it and people mock me about it

2. I can’t drive. The idea of it scares me and I think I’d be bad at it but I’m also annoyed by how inconvenient it can be sometimes

3. Maybe not random or surprising but I can be incredibly stubborn. To the point when sometimes I realize that what I’m doing or refusing to do isn’t worth it or worth the fight I’m having with someone but I don’t want to look like I caved, so I’ll push through.

I know we don’t know context or even if it happens, but I really don’t like that snippet in the trailer when the episode description states that in this episode she’s showing concern for the way he’s dealing with writers block. I don’t want her being used a stopover before Bughead and because i genuinely just love their friendship but thats even extra case of “that aint it” if in the midst of acting in a concerning way, they kiss or hookup? Tabitha deserves better than the implications of that

mmhmm, agree. 

it’s the description that gives me pause, tbh. i’d really like to see tabitha outside of caretaking for jughead. 

whether it’s a kiss, a toni 2.0, or a little fling, we all know it won’t last and that’s such a disservice to the friendship they’ve built between them (they’ve written her as a better friend to jughead than they’ve ever written archie being a friend to betty). now, i don’t mind the concept of them, i totally get it. 

but the context? that’s what i don’t like. the relationship isn’t equal, and since she’s a supporting character, it probably never will be. she’s been lifting him up and he’s not doing anything for her in return. 

in fact, he left work the second betty needed help. which means, he left his job, the job tabitha gave him, for betty. he not only left, it was his idea. 

that’s exactly how their relationship would go long term. if i were tabitha, i would simply read his book and say thanks but no thanks because i can read a room. 

and there’s no real love triangles on riverdale, it’d be over before it started. they’d use it to make something awkward or someone jealous for 5 seconds. so there’s nothing to really be had there. 

jughead and betty will always choose each other in the end, and the collective damage of that choice will always be an afterthought.

What even was the point of Jabitha kissing? Like is that just going to come back later or they really just did Jopaz 2.0? Because that scene felt so out of place and awkward or maybe thats just me

super awkward! 

my best guess? plot device to have him bring up not recovering from the bughead break up so him hallucinating about her later makes narrative sense. that anyone would think she’d sit there and hear about how he’s not over a relationship from 7 years ago and then later go, yep, that’s the man for meeee is laughable to me tbh.
