I absolutely love all of your meta. It’s a relief to see posts that are actually positive about Season 7 instead of ripping it to shreds for not doing what people expected. Anyway, I was wondering what your thoughts were on the Altean colony and what you think was going on. I’m in the “Haggar and Lotor made a deal to keep it a secret from Zarkon in exchange for giving her the magical Alteans” camp, but i wanted to see what your take on it was.
In this house, we stan the entire show. Because every season adds new layers. Because it is filled with nuance and dynamic characters. Because it is fun. Because it’s a good show, a story worth telling. I am aware it has flaws just like everything else, but the successes far exceed the shortcomings, and I love talking about it all. I’m so glad you enjoy reading it!
As for the theory, there is an argument to be made for Haggar having been in on the colony prior to Voltron’s return, but it seems unlikely for one big reason- Haggar and Honerva are very different people.
This theory was born after the colony was revealed and after she began her return to Honerva. After she reconnected with her Altean self and started seeking Lotor in non-sinister ways. After she betrayed Zarkon.
If this were Honerva Lotor had been dealing with for the past 10,000 years, it’s absolutely possible they could have cut a deal for her to use the Alteans for her own gain away from Zarkon.
But it’s Haggar he dealt with.
Haggar was fierce and absolute and incredibly loyal to Zarkon. She followed him unquestioningly and did his bidding even when she disagreed. Haggar above all else lived to serve her lord, her liege, her emperor. Had she known about the colony, she would have immediately relayed that information to Zarkon just as she did with the trans-reality comet.
But after she becomes aware of her past self, Honerva, her allegiance shifts. Honerva does not serve Zarkon, does not serve the Empire. Honerva serves herself and has a soft spot for Lotor.
Haggar protected Zarkon. Honerva is the reason Zarkon is dead.

Considering we already got the one from NYCC (not the one from the panel, the official one), I don’t get why people are expecting another one. We generally only get one trailer per season, and for Season 8 they’re trying to spoil as little as possible. I think the vague non-spoilery trailer from October is it as far as trailers go
I tend to agree. Since it’s the last season, they’re gonna give away little as possible. I’m not sure what people are expecting with that one, really.
