💖💖REVIEW💖💖 Black Hearts comes out Feb. 19th!! 💖💖 Secrets, lies, and the truth. Every family has them, but Violet McQueen's has more than most. So many secrets that she's always felt them hanging over her family even without knowing what they were. Violet's lucky; her parents are happily married, she has a pretty cool older brother, and she is going to photography classes pursuing her passion. She doesn't even know what is in store for her when Vincente Bernal, son of drug lord Javier Bernal, comes into town. He quickly enters her life in a big way and hot damn, I think I like Vincente better than his dad (who we got to know in the On Every Street series and Dirty Angels series). Violet only knows him as Vincente Cortez though, not that she would think the Bernals have anything to do with her family. But both Vincente and Violet's families have secrets that even Vincente and Violet aren't aware of. Vincente had me a little worried at first, but I think I'm really going to like him. I just hope he's not quite as psycho as his dad, but at the same time I hope he's persistent as hell like his old man is and tough as nails; I have a feeling he's going to need it! Violet seems to live a pretty idyllic life until about halfway through, so hopefully she catches up and learns quick that she has to be tough and smart to live in Vincente's world. Hopefully Camden has taught her well! This book can be read as a standalone, no need to read EOS or Dirty Angels. I haven't read Dirty Angels (I know, I know, I'm working on it!) and I still knew everything that was going on. I think this book might even be better if you go into it knowing nothing about these families as that just adds to the mystery.
