The only fanfic I've being re-reading more then 2 times is "The remaining jester card" and all parts of it. And more I read, more i realize that the sings were there from the start.
Also really love reading this fanfic to my friends, what is exactly a reason why I'm typing this post at 3 am. And yes, I would love to yap about it with someone.
[ And yes my first post here is about my favourite ship and fanfic lol ]
I have some big ahh problems with drawing him so far
There're some (kinda a lot?) thoughts about and spoilers to "Oh, dear, did I get your card in a shuffle?" and "The remaining jester card" under this line!! ↓
Let's not mind the hair, but the (literal) mask?? There are a few different descriptions of it.
1. In "Oh, dear, did I get your card in a shuffle?" it's only this one, talking about Branzy:
Properly taking a look, Clown noticed that there was a scar mark on his left cheek, right underneath his eye. His eyes...
And there's a lot of moments when his emotions (smiles mostly) are shown in Cards Shuffle.
Yet, in "The remaining jester card" it's said Clown sees him fully unmasked for the first time, which is the 2nd quote:
But, the thing that first catches Clown’s attention isn’t any of those things. It is that this is the first time Clown is seeing him unmasked , completely. At least literally. He is without the silver mask that he always wears, concealing half of his face save for the eye ... scar ... has always been slightly visible beforehand on the uncovered part of his face, a small slit of a scar right below his right eye, though now the uncovered parts around his left eye revealed how bad it really is.
which not just implies, but states that he was wearing a mask all the time previously.
One more quote, 3-rd, on the television, part of Blackheart's description:
About three-fourths of their face is covered by a porcelain mask, leaving only one of their eyes visible along with a quarter of their face, including half of a charming smile which is set in a cheerful grin.
And another one, 4-th, closer to an end of the story, talking about Blackhearts:
The man in the middle with black hair, that classy black suit, and the mask covering three quarters of his face. At the open of the door, the man raises his head up to meet Clown’s gaze.
This one confused me even more than the previous one, cause, well... not the same thing as it before. Are these different masks.. maybe? Don't know, actually. But that's not the last quote though, it only gets puzzler!
5-th! From, probably, last pages of "The remaining jester card":
There is a certain charisma to the man's appearance. Well crafted, posed, polished. But despite the mask, the bland white porcelain marked by black markers, covering most of his face and anything human you could’ve gotten from his expression, his eyes are exposed.
Still staring at Clown as Clown stares at him, the man tilts his head. Then, Blackhearts smiles at him.
How do I even wrap my head around it? It may be a metaphor, it may be not
And, seeing the difference between all these descriptions, I got confused 🧑🦯
So now I'm trying to figure it all out. And it looks like this:
so far. ( Reminder! Me reading the whole thing was inspired by @shearfer, so the second design pictured here might resemble theirs, which I'm kind of sorry for(?) even though it wasn't intentional and I prolly will not stick to it anyway )
Another part of the story is how Branzy even looked! I mean, yeah, Blackhearts wears the mask, we get it. But Branzy, the one, whom we initially met in the Blackhearts' casino, in Cards Shuffle?? Was he wearing makeup? Was he wearing a literal mask too? Did he not have the scars at the time?
But we have a description of some scars at the time at least:
"Pierce! So nice to meet you!"
Reluctantly though with no option to decline, he accepted the hand, trying hard not to flinch at the skin-to-skin contact. He noticed remnants of scars littered starting from the host's hand going up to his upper arm. He pondered it for a second, before 'Pierce' retracted his hand back as fast as he could naturally.
But nothing about the face scars except for this one under the left eye (later on it's the right one btw)
Not hating or anything, pure /pos and curiousity!! But I sooo wanna know what actually was meant to picture it the closest to the fiction piece I've just read
And I'll continue to try to come up with something cool that fits
