It’d been a few days since the attempted “ascension” by the campers, and while he’d initially just been thrilled that everyone had wound up with no scratches, (well, no physical scratches, anyway- he was more than a little concerned about some of the campers’ mental health) upon things finally beginning to settle down, he realised that there was still something he had to do before it could truly be over with Daniel. As much as he’d like to avoid seeing the man that had nearly killed his beloved campers again, the childrens’ safety came above David’s own, and he’d be damned if they were put in danger again just because David couldn’t bring himself to ensure that the other never found his way back to Camp Campbell.
Gee, that sounded a bit... dark. He tried his best to think of only the positives of seeing Daniel again as he cracked open the hospital room door, giving a soft wave as he entered. A bouquet of flowers marked with a “Get Well Soon” card was quickly offered by the counselor’s free hand as he smiled as brightly as he could manage at the man in bed. Poor guy...
“Hey there, co-counselor! Feeling any better? Awfully sorry about that fruit punch you drank. Guess we’ll have to be a little more careful next time we throw the kids a party, huh?” There was a slight, awkward pause as he did his best to hide his nerves from the other, realising that he should probably stop using words like ‘we’ since he was primarily here to officially terminate the other’s employment. “Well, it was GREAT having you at our little camp, but we’ve decided that we don’t need any new help right now. I hope you had as good a time together as I did, though! Before the whole hospital thing, anyway. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to make you feel any better! We may not be co-workers anymore, but that doesn’t mean I can’t help you as a friend!”
