We are very happy to have you join us again this year, and we hope you enjoyed! So without further ado, let’s have @viridescentlights​!

Q: What’s a common trope you find yourself writing? What do you like about it?

viridescentlights: Re-reading the tags on my ao3, I've found that I like writing fics where people know each other better before becoming a thing. Enemies to Friends to Lovers / Best Friend to Lovers / Friend to Lovers / Colleagues to Lovers etc. I like writing about it because I value trust-building between characters, and I just really like fleshing out them out with different challenges so they figure out who they are first and then how things stand before the destination ends with a certain realisation and a commitment to see things through.

Q: What's one steadfast headcanon you have for Enjolras and Éponine (canon or otherwise)? Why?

viridescentlights: In any universe, I want them to figure themselves out first and to respect each other before being together. Sure, they can be nasty to each other in the beginning, but as they learn more about each other, they'll realise that they're not that different, just more of the same fold. Because Enjolras can be a bit pedantic more than he can admit, and Eponine can be a bit stuck wallowing in her miseries. Once he understands that he cannot shape people simply by force of will and makes his ideas more bite-sized and doable, and she understands that people are not simply shaped by their circumstances and commits to do herself better, then they can meet each other and realise that they can make things work together better. This is because I am frustrated that they didn't get a chance to know each other more when they have so much potential to be healthy and be soft together, my dude.

Q: Which prompts did you like this year?

viridescentlights: Days 1, 5, 7

viridescentlights: I liked most of it; it's just getting to write on my chill time was a bit hard.

Q: What would you like to see instead?

viridescentlights: Picture prompts / opposite day prompts / question prompts

Q: Are there any changes you would like to see for future Enjonine weeks?

viridescentlights: This is a note to future self: DM people following the collective for more engagement. And! Launch the thing earlier. This year was a bit hurried simply because irl schedules were conflicting with the timeline set.

Courfeyrac: Who are you when you no longer face the crowd? / What’s the worst insult you ever got?

I think I’m too shy/hesitant to execute the actions that I know would be more beneficial to a situation/helping someone because I’m afraid that my actions won’t actually help at all and may even worsen the situation.

The worst insult I ever got was “nobody will ever love you like this.”

Felix Tholomyes: What lie do you tell yourself? / What’s an unpopular opinion you have of the fandom? 

A lie I tell myself is “maybe the next marvel movie won’t be so ;///”

I’m not really in the Les Mis fandom very much so I don’t really have much of any opinions but probably that enjonine isn’t like a really big deal since Enjolras isn’t portrayed as being attracted to anyone anyways??

Do you like Awake (2007)? What are your thoughts on it? 😄

I LOVE thatmovie SO SOOOOO much! It’s probably my favorite Hayden movie (after SW, ofcourse). I love the characters, I love the twist, I love the ending…<3 Ithink it’s a underrated. It’s not a groundbreaking movie but it’s definitely afun ride.

I imagine you've been asked this a lot, but humour me. What got you into Dramione? I got hooked into it bc I saw this one Dramione manip where Hermione was caressing Draco's face circa HBP, & then it led to Emma's interview saying she had a crush on Tom. Idk but when I was watching the films, I'd no chemistry from Rupert & Emma, no matter how hard she tried. But watching HBP & seeing Draco/Tom look at Hermione during the "Amortentia" class just kinda hit it for me. (pt.1)

And then the books had parts where Draco was afraid for Hermione, esp. during GoF. Then we had the torture scene at the Manor, where he was nearly crying and pleading for it to stop. And then there was CoS, wherein Draco was concerned that she was harrassed by his own father, but that he couldn't do anything about it. Like man, why, man. Why not put them together?? Like the parallels. Merlin. The PARALLELS (pt. 2)

"Death Eater" scar. "Mudblood" scar. Always neck-to-neck at school. The teasing and the punching. The intelligence. Shite. They were always so intense around each other. And I was so happy even Tom Felton said, "Well, there was always something going on between Hermione and Draco, yeah?" PLUS. That Cursed Child scene where Draco said, "Hermione Granger's bossing me around, and I'm mildly enjoying it." Like, why have these very exciting parallels and complementary backgrounds (pt. 3)

and not have them collide in one helluva of a ship?? I just. Why. My dude. They were already so juxtaposed perfectly together. I just can't. Gah. My feels. *falls to the floor and stays there forever* You feel me?? (end)

I got into it when I was curious about fanfiction in general and decided to read HP fanfiction since I liked HP. Then I saw a fic for dramione and I was like wahhhh? And read it and liked it and now here I am like 8/9 years later.....help!!!!!!!!

Umm I don’t think there was any “dramione” moments in the books or movies, I don’t think Draco warned the trio in GoF about death eaters because he was worried about Hermione. I don’t think it was even a warning. I think it was him gloating a bit, and it could be him slightly scared about the situation too, but I never saw it was him trying to save them. And the Amortentia scene, that too was just coincidence to me. I don’t think they have any parallels, JKR no matter what she says now, hated Draco as a character and made him into a person we will all hate. But it didn’t end up that way of course. But all her characters were based on people she knew when she was in school, and Draco and the slytherins were based on bullies. She would have never intentionally made any sort of connection between Draco and Hermione. As for the actors themselves, yeah Emma said she had a crush on Tom, but all the casts members admitted to having crushes with each other. And I think Tom only said that Hermione and Draco could work because he was at a fan event so of course he will agree with what they said to make them happy. He said the same about Drarry before.

Gosh I sound like a party pooper, how I’m a dramione fan idk! LOL But I never saw any connection between these characters in the books or movies, only in fanfiction. Fanfiction sold the couple to me and made me realise that yes they can work in theory, not in canon. JKR didn’t show much depth in Draco’s personality, she hinted at something other than a bully; but we ourselves had to extrapolate his inner self. And I personally prefer fanon!Draco to canon!Draco.

Ok I’m gonna stop now because I feel like I am making no sense lol.

A/N: holy shit i’m so sorry for the late reply!!!!!!! i’ve been quite preoccupied with,,,,, other fanfic ideas because i’m a fucking mess, but here it is!!!! i hope this makes up for the wait!! (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

a fake dating au three-sentence fic, in which i abuse the use of commas and semicolons

“Mother, Father, this is my girlfriend, Éponine,” Enjolras introduced the young woman standing beside him with his arm around her to his parents as they stood in the doorway to his family’s massive log cabin in the French Alps, after his parents invited him and the significant other he had lied about over for the winter holidays; after much pleading and bargaining and bribing with pizza and promises of movie nights in which she could choose the movies, he had managed to convince Éponine to pretend to be his girlfriend for the two weeks they were going to be spending with his parents up in the mountains.

“Pleased to meet you,” Éponine politely greeted Enjolras’ parents, holding out her hand for them to shake and turning faintly pink when Enjolras buried his face in her hair and kissed the top of her head; she ignored the fluttering in her stomach as she let go of Enjolras’ father’s hand and pulled away from Enjolras to glare up at him, managing to convey the words You owe me so fucking much in one single expression, and he merely smiled that charming smile at her in response before he leaned in to press a light kiss to her lips, making her heart race even faster the moment his lips brushed hers.

“Come in, make yourself at home,” Enjolras’ mother invited, stepping aside to allow Enjolras and his “girlfriend” entry, and Enjolras pulled Éponine closer to his side as the two of them walked into the luxurious log cabin, and Enjolras could feel his lips curling into a smile at the look of wonder and amazement on Éponine’s face as she observed their surroundings, overwhelmed by how splendid his family’s log cabin was; he felt his face grow warm as she turned back to him and placed her arms around his neck, and when she leaned in slightly, he almost immediately closed the gap between them by capturing her lips in a tender kiss—for the sake of pleasing his parents, of course, it had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he was beginning to feel butterflies in his stomach whenever she so much as touched his hand—and when they broke apart, he smiled down at her and whispered, “I’m starting to think we could seriously make this work.”

A/N: i must’ve broken at least one rule while writing this, lmao

i think i should turn this into a full-length fic......... thoughts??

“What are you smiling at?” Eponine glared at him through the mirror while she glumly let Enjolras help her paint her skin green for their matinee. 

“Nothing it’s just…I’m rethinking that maybe red isn’t the color of desire,” he smirked back at her without stopping to paint over her nape, making her shiver. 

“Shut up and wait until we stuff you with straws,” she shot back just as Enjolras laughed as he swept the brush over her flushed cheeks, coating it green and singing “As long as you’re mine…”

Give me a pairing and an AU setting and I’ll write you a three-sentence fic.

Enjonine Week 2018 - Writer of the Day Feature (viridescentlights)

In culmination of the Enjonine Week 2018 last August 15-22, we want to celebrate those who joined us this year, and for today’s Writer of the Day, get to know the pensive @viridescentlights!

Q: What interests you about Enjolras and Éponine being together?

viridescentlights: I’m planning on making a thinkpiece on this, but basically, the potential of their dynamics was what piqued my curiosity about them. They are also both so compassionate about people, and it’s always refreshing to see how unashamed they are of expressing themselves and how far they are willing to go for their own causes, so that’s really why they have captivated me.

Q: What kind of visual aesthetics or words remind you of Enjonine? (e.g. summer rain, cafuné, etc.)

viridescentlights: I have always been reminded of them through the royal couple Antigone and Haemon from Sophocles’ Antigone because of the words, “I love not those who love in words alone”, but that same author wrote Elektra and there was this phrase “You crown your sorrows with glory”, and I thought it was quite accurate in describing the journeys these two have had in the Brick, so there’s that for the verbal stuff. For the visuals, it’s lightning across the sea, Waterhouse or Camille Pisarro’s paintings, red flags raised in revolution, and a solitary red rose on top of a table near a window. And a song that makes me remember them is Vivaldi’s Vendro con mio diletto.

Q: What was your favourite day in this year’s Enjonine Week and why? (Day 1, the morning after because…)

viridescentlights: My favourite works are from Day 3 (Night) because I was able to practise French again, and Day 2 (Public Affair) since I was inspired by GRRM when writing it, and boom, verbal spat. It was fun.

Q: How would you describe your writing/art style?

viridescentlights: I’m more into expressing feelings in a very abstract way, so sometimes my writing style looks and feels like a poem with all the metaphors. It’s short, but it gives off a certain faint emotion, or something like that. I am not always direct with the words, but what I strive for is to make you feel something with it. And I’ve also been heavily inspired by Sophocles, Emily Dickinson, Sylvia Plath, Nick Joaquin, and GRRM, so I’m mostly into writing angst, canon divergence, and AUs.

Q: What sort of challenges do you want to come up in future Enjonine Weeks?

viridescentlights: I want to have a challenge where writers/artists must do one genre they haven’t or didn’t dare do before (e.g. I don’t usually do fantasy AUs, but that’s a genre I would really like to try). Another thing I want to see are tropes being subverted because Les Misérables has a lot of really good examples of this (e.g. Beauty Equals Goodness with Cosette, Éponine, an subversion in her case, and to some degree, Enjolras). That’d be amazing, and I’d write/read the heck out of it.
