A middle aged woman shot the blonde a death glare as he whizzed by and flicked a few droplets of sweat from his forehead. He didn't seem to mind, nor to care; after all, it wasn't his fault that his Jolteon was always so anxious. The Electric evolution had bounded back and forth around the woman before catching up to its master, leaving the woman a tad bit frightened as she clung to her groceries for dear life.
"C'mon Blitzen," he managed to huff, turning his head to look at him. "Just three more miles and then we're d--"
Suddenly, the yellow Pokemon stopped in his tracks, its spiky tail raised up in attention. Seeing his Jolteon halt, the blonde died his pace down to a slow jog before turning around to look at his Jolteon. "Blitz...?" he called, his voice huffing as he tried to catch his breath. And then like a bolt of lightning, Jolteon had surged off on his little paws and jumped over a little cement wall, landing gracefully onto the sand of Sunyshore's beach.
"H-Hey...!" With a tight frown plastered across the Gym Leader's face, Volkner dashed over to the cement scaffolding, seeing his Electric Pokemon scamper off and wheedle his way between bikini-topped women and little kids alike. He gave an exasperated sigh before jumping over the wall himself, jogging just enough to keep track of his Pokemon.
And sure enough, Jolteon eventually stopped when it had reached its destination -- his mission, however, was...an odd one. "...Oh," Volkner said, his eyes slightly widened in surprise. "Didn't see that...coming."
Apparently Jolteon had fallen for an Umbreon, whose male Trainer was sitting idly beside her.
"...Could've been a female Trainer, too, y'know," Volkner grumbled to himself. And with a shake of his head, he briskly walked across hot sand to the stranger. "...Hey," he called, "Sorry about...that." He nodded over at his Jolteon, who might've spilled a bit too much sand on the guy's beach towel when he had halted to a stop to greet his...new lover.
