Pino seemed restless- She’d fly higher to get a better vantage point above the crowd at times, beady eyes searching for a familiar nest of curly green hair. Rody looked calm and collected as ever, if it weren’t for him constantly checking the screen of his smartphone.

The plane had landed a bit earlier than expected, so he’d taken the escalator down to baggage claim and grabbed a coffee while he was at it. The young hoodlum had pretty much expected Midoriya to be waiting for him already, his smile radiating warmth like a miniature sunbeam, but the other boy hadn’t texted anything back since mentioning he’d departed on the nearest train to the Musutafu airport.

Didn’t help that some bored looking security guards had been glaring in his general direction, muttering amongst themselves that he must be up to no good. And here he’d bought nicer looking clothes and everything! It wasn’t like he was rocking those old leather brogues that didn’t even have laces anymore, just bits of scrap fabric holding the soles together- He was completely normal looking... if also incredibly handsome (not that he was bragging).

“Shoo shoo, I even bought this latte with my own hard earned cash earlier...” he hissed to himself, sending mental energy down the hall for the pair to just leave him alone and grab some donuts from the cafe he’d stopped at. Eventually they seemed to realize they had nothing concrete to pin on the boy and moved back towards the gates.

“I’ve been studying my butt off, like in an actual school, and I’m still treated like a thug? Tch,” he groused, sticking his tongue out when the guards weren’t looking.

"Can you just let me breathe for once and get off my back?" he snaps, keeping his back to Izuku.

"It's annoying how you stick to me and follow me around all the time, y'know... You can be a real eyesore."

There's a distinct chill to his tone, Rody keeping his eyes trained on some void beyond the ground. His hands were slung low into the pockets of his oversized coat, fingers clenching so hard into fists that he swore he could feel blood seeping out from between the cracks.

"And what's with that nonsense about wanting to 'be a hero who saves people with a smile'? We aren't kids anymore, so give it up. You guys are all the same, you'd just say anything to make yourselves feel better!"

Rody's voice rises in volume and takes on a broken, tremulous quality- The familiar sting of tears gathering in the corners of his narrowed eyes.

"Everyone knows what you're really after: Fame. Money. I know, because I'm the same way... You're no hero. Just another guy who lucked out with a good Quirk Why don't you do us both a favor and get the hell outta my sight."

Silence permeates the space between he and Midoriya, only broken by some quiet, distressed noises emanating from Pino. The tiny pink bird was practically waterlogged with tears, staring forlornly at the other boy until she finally launched off of Rody's shoulder to fly towards Izuku.

Izuku vs. Twice:

I feel like Izuku would have at least like. THOUGHT about Jin's circumstances and been like "Oh, I didn't think about that and how it affects others in that kind of situation :<" and been empathetic, but yeah- He would have St. Louis SMASH'd his face in despite feeling bad during the Final War, I think. It's literally not even about Twice personally, it's about stopping Shigaraki, really.

But maybe Izuku could have convinced Twice that uh, there will be NO future if Shigaraki & AFO win. Who knows! I feel like Midoriya is one of the few 'heroes' who's actually willing to think about the opposing side's motivations and admits that he 'doesn't understand what they feel/must have gone through' and he's just some babby teenager- That's so messed up that this literal CHILD is more mature than most adult Pros.

"Hoh? For doing what, exactly?" Rody asks, feigning innocence.

Truth be told, he hadn't been caught doing anything illegal... Yet, but still. Being hassled by the hepped up mini hero wasn't good for his image, especially if any of his clients happened to see that he was being snooped upon.

"This is harassment, y'know? Unless you have some evidence of nefarious wrongdoing, I'm completely free to go about my business. Or should I notify whatever pro you're working under to report that their fledging is making baseless accusations against an innocent civilian?"

He was bluffing, of course- There was no way he'd call for an adult pretending to be a 'hero', of all things.
