WTF JAPAN?!!
China links continue to be a success!
This week's link was even more successful as we had worked through an issue at the Chinese end and now have captions working well at both ends.Have the written language in Mandarin and English to support the spoken language is an important advantage of MSLYNC. You can see the mural is UNDERWAY!!! East Meets West.

Vic Virtual Learning Project supporting the Languages Unit
The Languages unit in conjunction with regional offices have organised a number of regional language forums in each region. The forums are being run to support the Victorian Government’s Vision for Languages Education and the associated targets that by 2025 all government schools are providing languages programs across years P–10, including all Government schools to be providing a language program at Year Prep by 2015.
Gary and I have supported these with Gary doing Horsham and myself doing Geelong, Warnambool and Ballarat. In preparation for these events I recorded an interview with a Principal of a very large Metro Primary school who is extremely happy with the virtual delivery of Indonesian into her school by a teacher from right up near Echuca.
I have already received an array of enquiries on the day and in follow up emails from schools wishing to explore this avenue of delivery for their students.

Feedback:
Thanks Jo,
Love your work!
I am thinking though we will explore the Lync and Logitech idea and see if that kicks goals for us.
Cheers,

Hi Jo,
Thank you for talking to us about “ LOTE by lync” at Tuesday’s Regional meeting in Geelong.
.(3 schools mentioned)..... are interested in jointly delivering Indonesian to our junior kids at the start of next year.
We would be extremely interested in any suggestions that you might be able to make.

HI Joanne,
I was at the session in Warrnambool on Monday and would really like to know about running LOTE in our school. I spoke with you at lunch and mentioned that Chinese would be the language we would prefer........
Thanks

New Chinese language program for Smeaton PS
I had the pleasure of observing Heather Lin delivering her lesson to Smeaton PS yesterday. Heather was introduced to this mode of delivery prior to her first lessons - transmitted last Term. Heather will be presenting at our conference, Perfecting the Blend in December. Heather is an outstanding teacher and is keen to research and compare the full range of virtual delivery tools available in preparation for her workshop presentation. She will be trialling, Polycom, MSLYNC and MSLYNC dialled into a Polycom unit! Book into her workshop today!

Written Feedback:
I liked doing the video conference. I liked that the people had demonstrations, photos, videos and activities.
We got to learn a lot more about Science in a fun way!
It was a very fun class because we got to see how different things worked even if they weren't here with us."
Student Feedback from Rainbow SC
“Thanks so much for today's video conferencing. It is the first time our school has done something like this with our students. It was a great experience for them and I would certainly recommend it to other staff members.
Your presenters did a great job of interacting with our students, responding to their comments and questions and getting the science concepts across.
We will work on our paper planes and hopefully be in contact when we have got them to fly 70 metres!”

“Very engaging and enjoyable”

When is my first PD delivery to Tasmanian Ed Dept. for their pilot?
Just meeting this morning using MSLYNC with Philip Walker from Tasmanian Education Curriculum Division. My first of 3 presentations will take place tomorrow in a DEECD virtual room. These will be the first 3 pilots for schools in the use of Polycom technology in Tasmania. Wonderful to be crossing the borders and opening the classrooms globally.
Looking forward to it! Jo Tate
