China links continue to be a success!

This week's link was even more successful as we had worked through an issue at the Chinese end and now have captions working well at both ends.Have the written language in Mandarin and English to support the spoken language is an important advantage of MSLYNC.  You can see the mural is UNDERWAY!!! East Meets West.

MS Lync and Polycom Integration ?

Horsham Primary School connects to Rasmussen rd campus using MS  Lync and Polycom Video Conferencing.  This functionality is exciting and is reflective of the continued development of Video Conferencing abilities that ITD (Information Technology Division) are committed to.  The Leadership team utilised MS Lync on an IWB and their Polycom VC Unit at the Baillie St campus to connect for their LT meeting. This is the beginning of the school to utilise virtual technologies to connect the two campuses, beginning with administration, then progressing to link staff and class groups for greater collaboration and connectedness. The 800+ VC units across Victoria are progressively being configured to accept MS Lync calls. With every teacher in Victoria having an MS Lync account - access to the Video Conferencing network is now not limited to those schools who possess a Polycom VC unit. Well done to Chris Walter (Principal) for embracing the new techology in a meaninglful way.     Gary

Cluster Principal meeting @ Kangaroo Flat PS a success!

Last Thursday we had a very productive meeting with Principals around the use of their VC Units, specialist content, MSLYNC (including a demo link to Gary at Horsham) for building sister school partnerships with Asia and blended learning in general.  The schools all have a common thread in their desire to link with Asia.  Follow up work is planned.

Korean Language MSLYNC connection a first!

Congratulations to Insun (Mordiallac Beach PS), Trish (Yuille Park PS), and EJ (Yuille Park PS) who got the ball rolling using MSLYNC this week! I hope to have some photos or video to share shortly.

Insun is already planning a link next week from Southmoor PS ... go girls .. our next challenge is that Korean sister school we are chasing...

Cutting the miles, improving the capacity - Psychology pilot

This morning I had the pleasure of addressing the Psychology Team at the Ballarat Office regarding a pilot using LYNC to reduce the down time in travel between venues.  We will be trialling a number of options including LYNC Attendee and evaluating the trials at the end of next term. This morning with conducted an MSLYNC call to Gary in Horsham to demonstrate capacity.  More soon....
