Three months to showcase 18 months of learning, and my Masters of Art and Tech capstone Project is complete!
Sea of Stars is an immersive experience meant to soothe and captivate, with a focus on the ethereal nature of aquatic life. It was created with Autodesk Maya, Zbrush, and Unity. The manta, squid, clownfish, some of the corals, angelfish, and puffer are all sculpted, rigged, and animated by me. Unity assets used in the credits.
I just have to present Tuesday, and I’ll have DONE IT.
Personalities and Virtual Worlds -Observation During and After COVID Lockdowns
Since COVID, it is safe to tell most of us as a collective are still getting used to communicating and going back out of the safety of our homes. Though some of us couldn't wait to get back out and go places, whether or without a mask, others were a little more hesitant. Of course, this is a natural response to everything that happened in late 2019 or early 2020, and no one would blame you for taking caution. Though it isn't publicized in the media much, COVID is still genuine. It is not gone, but as we all know, life moves onward. With that being said, it made me think about the specifics of us from COVID until now and how it changed the virtual world industry. Did we gain more users on these virtual platforms or lose them? This post will discuss all the specifics, but please remember there won't be any statistics or numbers involved. Everything released in this post will come from personal experience and researching other people's experiences and what I've noticed since COVID, up to the end of 2022.

Pollinator Park: Not just a VR experience but a wake-up call!

So earlier today during my lunch I got to at least feel like I was at a convention again.
We speak to developers and platform holders to get a glimpse at the potential future of VR.
It’s an exciting time for virtual reality. After a cooling-off period following the molten hot start VR had, we’re starting to see companies settling in for the long haul. That means continuing investment, especially in the hardware platforms themselves, and the fruit of those investments is starting to ripen. The announcement and early demos of Oculus Quest have cemented standalone, wireless headsets as a viable path forward for VR in terms of accessibility and a low barrier of entry. Meanwhile, new technology like the eye-tracking showcased in the Vive Pro Eye paired with better image quality and ever widening fields of view mean higher quality virtual experiences that are easier to jump into than ever.
The resounding consensus is that the future looks bright. Later in this feature I'll delve into the hardware and technology driving the future of VR and what that means for gaming and virtual experiences. Sharing space in virtual reality is a novel experience, one for which the potential has barely been uncapped, and the pioneers in the field I spoke with had high hopes (and a lot to say) about the social possibilities both in and beyond games.
